Chafing

If you experience chafing on the inside of your thighs, what do you do to reduce the chances of it from happening?  Or worse, if it happens, how do you treat it?

For me chaffing is worse in the summer. I thought the more weight I lose the less chaffing I would have, not so. I use Monostat chaffing cream  works well. It is in the feminine isle. Another product that works is Face primer it works just like the chaffing cream. Hope this helps.

I have also used stick deodorant in a pinch.

My doctor said that it's similar to athletes foot if it's sorta smells and isn't just normal rubbing together. I have like welts when I get the chaffing. So I use the gold bond medicated powder... but I do recommend getting the liquid spray instead because it has a cooling sensation. Whenever I use the powder no matter what brand I use it burns forever... seems like at least 5 minutes but it might not be that long.

Go to a running supply place or sports store, and ask for antichafing stuff. that runners use.  the one i use comes in a little stick deoderant container. It feels like deoderant, i don't know what in it. Vaseline works in a pinch, too.

Once you've been chafed, tho, a soothing cream, something like you'd use for diaper rash, is appropriate. LIke zincofax or something like that. Stay away from anything with alcohol, that will burn and hurt, and further dry out the skin.

REcently, i've discovered a "*****ly heat" powder, that i've only been able to find on ebay. It's from china, and has a cooling feeling when you put it on. I use it to prevent heat rash under my boobs and belly flap. (ooh, isnt that attractive?? lol)

I use the compression shorts under my swimming suits because that is generally when I experience chaffing the most. You could potentially use them all the time I suppose. I don't know if they have those in the women's section or not but definitely in men's at WalMart.

Hoodman, my husband works outside in the heat and has chafing problems.  Do the compression short compress your man parts?  I want to get my husband a pair but I know he will complain if that happens lol.

Yes and no. It's not like wearing underwear that's too tight or an athletic cup. The compression shorts have smooth seams and such so it shouldn't be too bad. I also buy a size that I know will be big enough so that it's not really "compressing" as much as what a body builder may want on his compression shirt to "show off" his muscles. They fit much like biking shorts and in fact those may work well for him too. Have him buy a pair but buy it "too big" so it's not like the way a compression shirt would fit to show off muscles. It took me a time or two to get adjusted to the way they feel. I have used them for work too sometimes.

Was about to ask the same! My hubs works outside and the summer can get really awful for him!

I am pre-surgery and have that problem. I use Monkey Butt (sold by baby stuff usually) it works, doesn't burn and helps big time. I live in VA and it's always humid. Also I would notify your doctor/PCP or specialist so it's documented you may/could use this in the future as a excuse for the insurance company to help pay for some plastics. When mine gets really bad I have to see my PCP and he will send in a stronger/antibiotic treatment for me.

Good luck.
