Maintenance and a New Chapter
The past few months I have really been losing at a very slow pace. Last month I managed to lose 3 pounds and the month prior only 1 pound. However my goal is knocking at my door, 2 pounds to go.....Its been 17 months since surgery and i have lost 174 pounds....who in their right mind thought I would find this type of commitment and determination.....UN FREAKING REAL!
150 goal weight is my target number and anything under that would be a cushion and bonus. I do not want to lose more then 5 after that with a final weigh in at 145 if possible.
This has been a remarkable journey, filled with some frustrating stalls but overall something to be remembered as a wonderful experience. I have learned so much about myself during these past 17 months and pride is once again part of my vocabulary!
To those just starting it is hard work, but worth every minute to regain a new life and a fresh start. Hopefully we all learn a new lifestyle and can continue on making the right choices
Maintenance scares me but I hope I can continue from learning all that I have in the past 17 months.
Best of luck to all
Congratulations on being so close to goal!! I also set my goal at 150, then I changed it to 146 to have a normal BMI. I am currently 142 and just hope that in maintenance I can keep it below 150, when or if I get bounce back. Maintenance scares me too!!

Candy the last 10 pounds have been absolutely brutal. I haven't been stair stepping but at least consistent with the weigh ins. To see 150.8 on the scale this morning was like ok....hitting the 150 milestone. Now what? Maybe I'll feel the rush when I actually leave the 150s, this has been a rough ride the last ten pounds. I thought I would scream from the mountain tops, but no that wasn't the reaction I thought I would have Hoping the 140s will excite me a bit more. :)
Happy to be where I am but my ideal would be 145 that would give me a cushion.
Thanks for all the encouragement and mentorship you are amazing!
Was reading and saw your post and wanted to comment ... Maintenance is not any easier than loosing the weight .. I just want to encourage you in Oct will be 9 yr for me with a total of 207 lb gone.. One of the reason I believe I am remaining at my goal is due to the attitude its a life style change ...I still focus on protein first and limit my carbs .. So be encouraged you can maintain if you keep the life style and don't let the old ways before surgery creep back in !!! Live in the life of freedom that you worked hard for !! :-) It is a daily choice for me and I am committed !! So be encourage it is possible if you believe you can !! :-)
Congrats on your success ... Maintenance is not much different that they loosing journey just a few more calories .. I just want to encourage you to keep a good attitude and believe in your self .. Look at what you have accomplished !! I am coming up on 9 years this fall I lost 207 lbs , I have continued the same journey and have stayed at goal it is work just as much as loosing .. I want to encourage to embrace your fears of maintenance and keep telling your self you can do this !! You can do it never forget how far you have come .. :-) You are paving the way for so many others !! awesome job!! :-)
