I'm a failure!
Regain happens, not to all but to many. I wouldn't say you are a failure, you've slipped back into some old habits. Those habits have to be broken and corrected, follow the rules of RNY and get back on the wagon NOW.......as Lora said the malabsorption you had to get you far in the first 2 years is gone. You WILL have to be diligent on your intake and focus on protein first.
You only fail when you quit trying.

OMG!
I am also 3 years out and have gained 35 pounds. this is too ironic. Over the last year I have been able to lose 5 of those pounds...very depressing to me. But I was told by my doctor to go back to basics....so here I go. I know bad habits have crept back into my life.
back to exercising.....getting my protein in first...try to get more sleep..
I knew it wasn't going to be easy when I started this journey...but I want to get to my goal weight...
keep in touch...I need help in doing this too

Ignore her. Regain is not as much as a problem when you are still over 200 pounds.

Yes, statistically, some regain is typical (categorizing it as normal and abnormal isn't really quite right, though, IMO). I haven't regained any either, but don't consider myself abnormal... Just atypical... But, hey, if you want to consider yourself abnormal, feel free. At least that won't make people who DO regain some weight feel bad about themselves.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
