Everyone of us could pull out "studies" both pro and con for every surgery.  One study will flout the benefits of RNY, another will flout why we should never consider RNY (I'm just saying RNY as an example - there are studies for all surgeries -- pro and con).  Old studies vs. new studies.  Even here at OH, under Resources-About WLS where under DS it states "only 50 surgeons worldwide are doing DS"   I cannot believe that is true today.  Every study you can pull up can be contradicted by another study.

It's up to us to read as much as we can about WLS, consult a surgeon, and make our own decision as to what we think is best for us.

If your surgery "works for you" you'll rave about it; if it doesn't you'll rant about it.

Whatever surgery you choose, its probable that it will work if you follow the guidelines; it won't work if you don't.

And no surgery is 100% successful for everyone - there will always be people who have complications.

So choose a surgery and commit.

(BTW, how did this thread end up over here?)

Still learning.  Currently in pre-op stage.

A balanced, thoughtful response! You're right on! Hallelujah!

I presume this thread got put here on R&R because it turned into too much of a soapbox having nothing to do with the OP.

OH sure benefited from lots of clicks, though! Maybe some other people benefited, too.

"Maybe some other people benefited, too."   Yup, at least one person came over to the DS board to ask questions and I got a PM from someone now interested in the DS. All because of that thread. kiss

DS guys made it that? I see every surgery type posted that didn't agree with YOU.

When I see biased, immature nonprofessional advice, it's usually a post by you. You just seem to have a grudge, and don't care how inaccurate your advice. I found the number of people who disagree with you far more telling that the words you said. Carry on, and on, and on.

Oh, I'm a professional X 42 years now- been around the block just a time or two- just not a Bariatric surgeon.
