I was also on a drug that was known for causing weight gain, and I do think it contributed to my increased hunger but I am the one that put the food in my mouth and I have never blamed anyone or anything but myself.  Taking responsibility for one's own actions is the first step in making positive changes.

Of course weight loss surgeries do fail or are inadequate or are just not done right.  I know I had a sleeve that was made way too large and I never felt any restriction.  And my surgeon apparently  has a reputation of not doing the surgery I had well and many of his patients with the surgery failed and had revisions.  I knew nothing about this before my first surgery or even my revision.  It really does matter who does your surgery.  You want a surgeon with a track record of successful patients.  I would have made a different choice had I known better.  But, be that as it may, I still take full responsibility for my regain.  I choose the surgeon, I took the medication and I ate the food.  No one put a gun to my head and the fact that I didn't know better at the time, while it helps me forgive myself, does not change my responsibility.  I choose to have my insides permanently altered and I had responsibility for knowing what was being done by whom and I failed myself.  I put my life in the hands of a surgeon because I trusted him and I didn't know any better.  As they say, know better, do better.

I read your post yesterday and you have been on my heart and in my prayers.  I haven't had the surgery yet (Feb 19th is my surgery date) but one thing I am terrified of is losing the weight and gaining it back, so I really feel for you!!  Since you are asking for help, I will tell you that I don't think you will win without God in your life.  When we are overwhelmed, we can count on Him to get us through it.  I believe that is the only way we can achieve success.  And one of my favorite sayings is, "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!"  Don't give up, give in to the Lord Jesus and He will show you your true worth, forgive you and give you hope.  In reading back over this, I realize I need to give my fear of failure to Him too!

Have you heard of the Christian singer, Mandisa?  Her music is so inspirational and motivational!!  Go and listen to "You're an Overcomer" and tell me there is no hope!!  Then listen to "The Definition of Me".  There is power in her music because there is power in our faith in the Lord.  God bless you and don't give up -EVER!!!

AMEN !!!    Read the Serenity Prayer in my signature line.   That says it ALL!!!    Good luck to you precious lady & don't do anything hasty.    Do research & do what you feel is right for you & your family.    Talk to a Bariatric surgeon about your meds & their expert advice.   You will be in my thoughts & prayers & you've been on my heart too.   Please keep us updated on you.    WE CARE!!

Hugs & Blessings---- Vivian

GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT THE THINGS I CAN NOT CHANGE;   COURAGE TO CHANGE THE THINGS THAT I CAN;  AND THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE !!!!    THIS IS MY DAILY PRAYER.

With all due respect, there are many non-Christians on this board who have had success with their WLS.

If your faith helps encourage you in your journey to better health, that's wonderful, but belief in god(s) are not a requirement for weight loss.

 Thanks for saying something, Sparklekitty.

Come to the dark side... we have bacon! :) I'm a 2 stage DSer. I had the sleeve in 2007. My highest weight was 425. I lost 189 lbs in the first 2 years and then struggled to maintain. Eating high protein 800-1000 calories a day. Working out 5 days a week taking spin classes. I gained weight. I had a reoccurring issue with bursitis and had to quit spin class. I got out of the habit of working out. Eating more. Make exceptions with no - no foods... Eventually I had regained 117 of the 189 I'd lost. October 2012, weighing in at 353 lbs, I added the DS to my sleeve. Since then I've lost my regain and then some. I'm not at my goal weight yet but for the first time, I know I will get there. This surgery does take a greater level of commitment. Vitamins are a huge thing. I NEVER took vitamins with my sleeve and ended up severely deficient because of it. So now I'm playing catch up. But I am healthier than I've ever been... Even at 227 lbs. Do your research. I have several metabolic disorders that the DS resolves. I could not get that with the RNY. And coming from being a heavy weight at 5'2 and 31 years old at the time, I needed something for the long haul. 2nd time around, I made the best decision for me. Best of luck and I'm around if you want to chat. :) You've got this!!!

I live at a hotel through the work week and stack 6-8 strips of bacon on my plate with a pile of cheesy eggs every morning for breakfast.  The looks I get are SO amusing when the man next to me has a few pieces of fruit and a tiny bowl of oatmeal..
