Traumatic Experience

I'm so sorry you had that experience.

I would not recommend having WLS if you don't have a doctor that is able and willing to do follow up afterward.  Not only to order your labs and stuff, but what if you have problems related to the surgery?  You may not be able to return to Mexico if you're experiencing some sort of complication.  So who would be treating you?

This is the most frustrating thing! I know that I will need a doctor once I come home, but I have my heart set on this. I am ready mind, body and spirit for this and for something like this to stop me is just maddening.

You're planning to have surgery when?  Did you say April?  That gives you a couple months to find a supportive doctor that doesn't act like a judgmental ass.  I don't think this has to stop you.  You just have some work to do in the meantime, finding a doctor.

I'm sorry, that's so miserable.  Doctors like that are one of the reasons I'm seeking WLS, I'm so sick of the judgment - and it even comes from health professionals!!

That's completely terrible.  I agree with the other folks that you need to have a doctor working with you who completely understands your situation before you embark on your surgery.  Maybe someone on the Alberta forum (is there one?) can recommend someone and if they're not taking anyone new, call them anyway and plead your case or ask that doctor for a recommendation.  Or, contact a Bariatric program local to you and ask them for a recommendation.  That's how I found mine.

Also, girl.  Don't forget you are the customer.  You are not wasting their time, they are wasting YOUR time.  If that ever happens again, thank them for their time, suit up and get out.  No examination, no more fat shaming.  Ain't nobody got time for that.  And if you paid anything, ask for a refund.

Did you post this on the Alberta or one of the other Canadian boards??  You'd probably get more helpful responses there.  

From reading some of the Canadian boards, I can see that the WLS process moves slowly, so I understand your wanting to go to Mexico.  

I had to see a Cardiologist because I have heart problems - he was not as bad as the doctor you just saw, but I got really upset with him.  Some of his comments were "All you have to do is eat less" and "If it taste good, spit it out"   Some people are just ignorant idiots.

Hope you get the information you need.  And don't let the idiot get you down.  Stay strong.  And your husband sounds like a nice guy.

Want me to call her and tell her to suck it sideways?  Like...seriously?  I'm overweight?!?!?!?  WHAT?!??!  I weighed 120 lbs when I walked in here.
I had something similar happen once and I showed my behind and never, ever went back. You are already on a path to health-don't let someone as unprofessional
and ridiculous stop you.  Best of luck to you!
