Surgery is the easy way out!
Absolutely, I totally agree. That moment when you realize you have just exceeded capacity and you've about 10 seconds before eruption is a special moment we'll all cherish forever. I know mine was awesome!

Very funny and very accurate!
It's been the most interesting years of my life, pre-op, surgery, and since! Also the hardest damn work, learning how to and continuing to manage myself.
I am grateful for the gift of the weight loss and greatly improved health that surgery gave me. I'm doing my best to make sure that continues! Now, that is not at all easy!

I love this post. Love. It.
I haven't heard anyone dare to say to me "You took the easy way out!" But if they were to say that, here's what I would say:
"So what?"
Losing weight is hard. Why the hell not make it easier? I haven't heard of a special medal awarded to those who get to a size 6 because they did it one way or another. There isn't a "members only" store where you can only buy stylish clothing if you exercised your way to svelte.
I've decided to come clean. My name is Jen, and I like to take the easy way out. (It's shameful, I know, but I can't keep living a lie.)
1) I buy my food at a grocery store instead of raising and growing it myself. (Gasp! I sometimes even have it delivered so I don't have to go get it! Please don't judge me!)
2) My clothes are clean. But I have a washing machine in my basement. I don't spend all day doing my laundry the right way by washing it in the river. My children will never know the joy of clothes dried in the sun! (I'm so ashamed.) I don't even make my own soap.
3) I'm an accountant. And I use a computer. I know the abacus is the "right" way, and I have one on my desk, but it's just for show. I'll probably be fired now for "cheating."
I can see now, that unless something is done the "hard way," it just doesn't count. I really need to work on making my life more difficult. I will get help right away. Thanks for listening, everyone!

Well, I appreciate the humor in your post! While, I feel that my journey was fairly easy (certainly much easier than traditional diet/exercise), I know it can be difficult for many people, for the reasons you mentioned. I did not find this post whiny because you were trying to exaggerate your point for the sake of humor - I get it. Well-written and very witty, my friend!

Sorry. Lots ot typos but no time to correct now.
I fully get the humour. We get fed up with being told we took the easy way out by eople implying we haven't had to work at this.
But, for me, it was certainly the easier way out! I lost all my excess weight and I have kept most if it off. Never managed that before! And I have worked hard! It has NOT been easy. But not as hard as pre-surgery; then I found it impossble!
So -easy way out? Well, yes, if compared to other ways. But hey, using a dishwasher is an easy way out. Buying prepared veggies is an easy way out. Having a local anaesthetic at the dentist is an easy way out. I am all in favour of easy ways out.
