Smart family, I keep preaching to my 30 yr old daughter who is 100 pounds overweight to lose it on her own, I told her to never have weight loss surgery.. too many complications post op.. If not from the surgery itself many other things always associated with wls causing problems, I have had wls, whats done is done. I wish I had never had wls..your family must really love you, And I mean really love you. Wish I had someone to talk me out of it. Your lucky to have all that support. I never had any, I always say as I am watching "The Biggest Loser" I bet I could have done it on my own, watching that show makes me feel stronger, if not the full 100 lbs I could have lost 50 lbs and been very happy at that. Hugs to you.PeaceV Wendy

Let me give you some friendly advice from someone who is 10 years out of surgery and has been on these forums for a loooooong time.

When reading the replies on OH, consider the poster.   Check their posting history - it will help you sort the wheat from the chaff - there are some seriously  strange people on here.

You sound like a people pleaser - I spent 30 something years doing that, until I had an epiphany one day and decided that I was going to live my life for ME, and my friends and family could come along for the journey or STFU!   You teach people how to treat you - do what's good for you, thank them for their concern and then don't listen any more ...

Having had WLS myself, I wouldn't go back and do it again. I don't have any complications, just a useless lapband that does me zero good these days. Overall, I'm not exactly thrilled that I had surgery. I wish I'd tried harder. MUCH HARDER. To do it on my own first. But no, I always gave up after a month or two. I always lost hope. Lost motivation. Didn't have a strong support system. Hated the workouts I was doing. Hated the gym (still hate the gym - I workout at home). Long story short, I never gave it my 100% the way I do now.
