Darlene, I had great success with- Zero Carb Isopure. Comes in 20 oz Glass bottles, Sometimes called or referenced as Glass Zero Carb Isopure, Or even Isopure Crystal on some websites. Calories - 190, Carbohydrate - 0 g, Protein - 40 g It comes in a number of flavors- Passion Fruit, Apple Melon, Grape, Blue Raspberry, Fruit Punch, Orange, Pineapple Orange Banana, And Mango Peach. On the Down Side- All of them have an after taste that is a little like Sucking on Old Pennies. My first thought when tasting it for the first time- "Who peed in this?!?" The Upside? Cut it half and half with some Crystal-Lite And the flavor is hidden completely. Don't try to get it all down at once either, Just have a little, 4 to 5 times a day. You get in more "water" this way and Since your system only processes about 30 gms of Protein at once anyway, Slowly "trickling" it into your system insures you Get the maximum benefit from the protein. If you've got a GNC store nearby, Stop in and buy a few. It is cheaper to shop around on the net And order a case, but only after you know that you will use it. I found the Orange, mixed with Crystal-Lite Lemonade Was great and so was the Mango Peach Mixed with Crystal-Lite's Peach Tea. Hope this helps- Best Wishes- Dx

well as far as protein try to find a shake you like and can mix w/ water .. also it took me months to get up to 60+ oz of water it takes time to get there . keep water on hand at all time and make yourself sip .. try egg salad , tuna , boiled eggs , peanut butter . cheese sticks are also all good for protein or just scramble an egg .. bariatric eating.com has great protein drinks strawberry prolete is awesome taste like strawberry flavored milk.. she also has lots of samples to request ..

I feel your pain girl! I'm still struggling and I've just past the 10 week point. Isopure is a great way to get protein, unless it makes you deathly ill, as it does me. It turns out that it has LOTS of lactose as do most of the protein supplements. Sometimes, even if you don't have a lactose problem before you have the surgery, you become very sensitive to it afterwards. That's me, and to add to it, I'm allergic to soy as well. Many times I just can't eat meat at all because I'm starting to have an adversion to it. Unjury doesn't have the lactose, but I still can't tolerate it, you, however, may do just fine with either of these products. I wish you the best and I'll keep you in my prayers. Don't worry, it WILL get better. Even with my struggles, I have many more good days than bad days now and the good are getting better.

Darlene, I have the same problem still at 9 weeks. Watch for signs of dehydration (check your urine color) and get an IV if needed. I did and it helped a lot. I am told that I have been pushing my pouch too hard (meals too big) and cutting back on meal sizes helped. I have only thrown up 3 times, and only once since shrinking my meals. What do you eat, and how much?

Hi!! I am 9 weeks out too! I am not eating anything. Drinking is even worse. What kind of IV did you get? Please let me know... Thanks, Esther

Esther, The IV was a liter and a half of fluids for rehydration, I think the term was "lactated ringers" but I'm not that up on what goes in all those bags. I did skim the contents and they listed some electrolytes. I can drink water, light fruit juices (Welch's light grape is great) and gatorade. For eating, my meal size before I get uncomfortable is about 2 ounces, and I don't get enough food yet. I can't do liquid protein supplements, so I do small protein bars. I'm way behind on my daily protein, but I concentrate on staying hydrated first. Hope this helps. Troy.

"Lactated Ringers" .... Did you have some bleeding somewhere that was leading to volume depletion? Lactated Ringers is typically used to replace lost blood volume such as in major trauma patients. It would seem more likely that you would receive NS or Normal Saline for dehydration. They can always mix additives such as electrolytes/vitamins to the fluids as needed, but I would not understand using LR or Lactated Ringers for simple dehydration. Carolyn~

Nope, no bleeding or trauma. I could be misremembering, but I'm 3/4 certain the bag said lactated ringers. I've lost 70 pounds in 9 weeks and have been having trouble eating and drinking, but I don't know enough about this to understand what they'd give me, or why. Thanks for the explanation though. Troy.
