The only time I have not been overweight is probably my first month of life. I was a fat infant and continued gaining through adulthood. I was already in a size 16 by junior high. I hit my highest weight last year and knew I had to make a change now. So far I am 15 weeks out and 81 pounds down.

Always the fat kid that turned into the fat adult. I was even cherubic in my kindergarten photos. My WLS has helped me immensely!

Best wishes to your daughter!! I was always the biggest kid in class as a kid... overweight till pre-teens then into obesity range... 35 years old and BMI of 54.5 (I'm short 5'2') at the time of surgery... 158 pounds lost. Went from 28 pants to size 4.

Hmm when wasnt I big. i had surgery at the age of 22. I will be 10 years post op in Aug. And the lightest Ive been since surgery. i regret NOTHING! I wear L/XL shirts (ive got a 22" shoulder span) and size 8/10 pants...I am a true big boned person. My wrists are 8" no fat on them. My total body fat is 21% which is what female athletes should be at.

Why I was overweight is a heavily loaded question that hasnt been fully understood. Part is hormonal and other is body physiology. I wasnt a troubled kid or anything. Did i overeat at times.....who doesnt? What we know my body is a crazy try to keep things in balance type that is surprisingly fast at adapting. Constant tweaking and changes are required along with high activity level. My surgery gave me a leg up and I just work it and my body. Its a crazy mix.

Love my life.

Me.  I was born at 9 pounds and from that point on, always overweight.  While in high school lost some weight but still weighed over 160 pounds, then up over 200 in college, then 250 when I married, got over 280 when I was pregnant.  I was 309 when I started this journey.  I had the VSG on October 22, 2014.  I have lost 104 pounds to date.  It is fast at first and now I'm struggling with 3-5 pounds a month.  I'm very optimistic and love the changes in myself.  Good luck to your daughter, she is smart to do this while she is still young enough to enjoy the rest of her life!  My only regret is that I didn't do this a long time ago.  God Bless you both.
