Long distance driving

I didn't have trouble with traveling or with pain.  I still have to take a nap most days.  If you have time to rest, you may be fine.  Like drive 2-3 hours, take a nap, and drive some more, then have a relaxing evening before doing something else, it is doable.  If you have to drive 7 hours, and then be on your game, I don't think so.

Do you have to do the actual driving? I had no complications and was driving within a few days of my surgery....but no way did I have the stamina to drive for 7 hours. More like...drive to the drugstore, drive to church, drive to pick up a newspaper.

And I have to ask....what's at the other end of this drive? Work? Family event?

Because whatever it is, post op eating during travel is something you need to consider carefully.

Talk to your doc and be sure s/he will give you medical clearance to be a full day's drive away. And yes, you'll need to build in plans for frequent breaks and walks to avoid blood clots, as was mentioned.

Please remember that even though your surgery is laparoscopic and the incisions are tiny....the procedure itself is very significant. This is major surgery and recovery is a crucial step in taking care of yourself.
