How do you get your protein shakes right. I have made two now and they are nothing but foam.

Hi Tammy, You might try not blending them so long in the blender. I find that when I blend them for a while that I end up with more foam. If that happens you can let it rest for a little while and the foam will go down and away. Hope that this suggestion helps you. I know it is kinda gross sometimes when there is so much foam to drink too. Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

Is it Nectar brand? Nectar and fruity ones, I cannot make without foam, simply impossible to me too I use vanilla's and chocolates, non fruity ones. I have never had foam problems with Elite brand or Protein Delight brand.....I get them all at bariatriceating.com. Good luck, I couldn't get past the foam either. I also see you have my surgeon, does he allow them now? When he was with U of I, he didn't allow them....he wanted us doing double milks.....8ox milk with 1/3cup powdered milk but since I was became lactose intolerant I went with the shakes! Protein shakes are his thing. I drink 3-4 cups of milk a day and try to make at least one protein shake a day but it turns out to be nothing but foam and that is gross. I am trying to get all this protein in and it is difficult for me. I have the whey tasteless protein powder from bariatriceating.com. I am making a banana shake: 1 cup milk 1/2 banana 1 scoop protein powder 2-3 ice cubes. It tastes good if I can get through the foam. Tammy

So funny, how things change Maybe it is the milk ( I use water for my shakes) I really don't know as I have never had the Whey tasteless brand. Maybe try more ice next time. Also~Susan Maria is way educated on the shakes...email her and she will answer you and tell you how to make them with no foam. Best of luck jesi

First, milk is loaded with sugars, so be careful with that. Second, I have never had my shake mixes foam up when I shake them up in my shaker glass. ALWAYS with a blender they get foamy and too thick. In order to shave off sugars, I started using one half to one scoop of powdered non-dairy creamer, 1.5 scoops of protein mix and about 10 oz or more of water. We are all different. I am a texture nut. If it's too thick or too foamy I can't make it go in my mouth. Protein shakes are a very individual like/dislike thing. My personal favorites are as follows: GNC 100% Whey Protein [chocolate] IDS Banana IDS Chocolate Mint Protein Delite White Chocolate Strawberry Protein Delite Coconut Almond All of the above mix instantly and have wonderful taste, without that gritty mealy sensation. You can also get the unflavored proteins and mix them into your foods and drinks, although I have no clue whether they really are tasteless and what they will do to the textures of your foods or beverages.. The Stallone Pudding is also quite tasty and has 20 grams of protein in each little can. Additionally, Isopure makes a ready to go clear liquid bottle in various flavors with 40 grams a bottle.

When I make mine, as soon as I get done blending them I pour them over ice and stick them in the fridge, chills them and gives the foam time to go down. Valena

I use a shaker cup, and that eliminates the foam problem. ~ Kim

I use GNC pure protein mix. I use a plastic bottle and some ice cubes for mixing. I mix up 6 days worth at a time and a couple of shakes and I have my drink each morning. Dennis

I have no foam problems, but I shake them, with water in covered cup. Blending isolate powders is yucky - just foam. And most isolate shake well, as do many blends.
