I had CT surgery on both wrists/hands about 3 yrs ago.   When I started feeling the numbness and tingling, I told my boss at work immediately. They sent me to the W/C Dr. From there they tried physical therapy and when that didn't work, they sent me to see a surgeon. If you have a soft firm ball that fits in your hands, you can excersize your hands to releive the discomfort. Also, simple excersizes such as,  open your hand and take your thumbs and touch the oposite side of your palm. Slide your thumbs up slowly. Do this with each finger a few times. You can probably find other excersizes on the web that you can incorporate into your daily routine. Please see a Dr.  Don't wait. It will just get worse. Get it taken care of. Good Luck.  Erin

hi. I too have Fibromyalgia and have been diagnosed with it for five years. i went to a pain clinic and they put me on Methadone which really helped at first but now it is still bad, especially in my right knee.  i can't exercise so it makes it tough.  With the Methadone comes constipation so I am on a plateau for two weeks and I am so upset.  I go to the knee specialist on Tuesday to see what they can do with my knee.  Fibro is one think that won't go away and I have found weather change really affects it. good luck

Topic: RE: should my pain be getting worse?

Hi Debbie I have also noticed my arthritis has got worse since weight loss,I thought it would have been the reverse!!  I need both knees replacing as well ,I am a good bit older than you,how did your weight loss go? I am wondering if ( apart from my outlet being too big ) if my lack of mobility is not helping my weight loss,on the day I am able to walk I try to walk 2 hours solid, but I have found by doing this it just irritates the knees even more ! I can certainly understand why you won't go to a chiropractor!  Congrats on your weight loss!  I am glad to hear the pain has gotten better, you have a great New Year too! Beth

Thank you for your reply and thoughtfulness.  Unfortunately I have been advised to never allow a chiropracter to adjust me.  I have a spinal disk and bone spurs in my neck.  I was informed my a spinal specialist that any adjustments could paralyze me.  Losing almost 50 pounds has improved my pain and I rarely take Advil anymore.  I have learned to live with my problems and prefer to not have surgery at this time.  Hopfully another 40 pounds will further improve my problem.  Thanks again and a very Happy New Year to you!! Hope your pain is gone now, but if not try seeing a chiropractor.  I had pain like that and it was sciatica.  The chiropractor was the only one who could give me relief for it, my spine was out of alignment.  You may take pain meds. to feel better but the cause will still be there if your spine is misaligned.  Worked wonders for me, especially when I was pregnant with my first child.

Sharon, Happy Holidays to you also.  I had open RNY 18 months ago and lost 200 lbs.  I still have 100 to go to my goal.   I can't exercise as I am bone on bone in one knee and almost the same in the other.  I can't imagine the pain you must have.  I am having a panni done in 4 weeks with the hope of improving my lymph system so I can then get new knees. If allowed in your insurance coverage, look into phsy therapy.  My Gastro surgeon feels as if once I can exercise I can lose the additional weight, but I have to have the knees done first.   Good luck.
