when I read your reply to another, I felt inspiration. I too have bad knees , just had surgery recently and found out it is gone too,.The right one has been bone on bone for 2 years now the left is too. I am so hoping to follow in your foot steps and have the sleeve done and than when weight is off enough Have the right one done than the left soon as I can , than I am so looking forward to walking, playing with my grandchildren.Talking a walk will be so wonderful. I will follow you if I may to see how you have done and to stay inspried. Prayers to you and thanks for letting us know how yours did. .... Snowdove
I , too have problems with my knees and that is why I am having the sleeve done. The ortho Drs won't do anything untill I can lose weight , which I understand why, it is just so hard for me to lose with out exercise. I have finished my 6 months with the nutrician and have lost some, waiting for the surgeons date. I hope you are doing better, but I sure understand the pain in the knees situation. does make it harder. If you have any ideas as you go along on your journey please email me and let me know , and I will do the same for you. Prayers and good luck..... Snowdove
Hi,
I'm in the same boat at 44 years old. It's awful. For those of you that have found local good surgeons willing to consider your condition (versus age) can you share that information so those of us still searching can find somebody? I'm in so much pain and already on a walker. The next step is a wheelchair and I have little ones. It's hard.
Thanks,
MJ
Past history with weight loss has shown that for me, I begin to feel improvement with my knee pain at about a 10% loss. So, if I start at 300 lbs, I need to lose about 30 pounds to start to feel a difference. Hang in there!!
Thank you, it's good to know there might be some hope for my legs and back.
I'm pre-op, so I can't speak from experience, but the comment I got from my ortho when I asked if losing weight would help with my pain is "losing weight helps with everything." I hope he's right. My other ortho (yes, I have two, they specialize in different body parts) said losing weight would allow me to delay knee replacement by several years.
I'm pre op, considering - I'm 27 and have arthritis in my ankles, knees, hips, and severe nerve root death in my back (sciatica and lumbago from a surgery for scoliosis). I was wondering if any had some similar symptoms? (my bmi is over 57) - Did they go away or at least lessen with WLS? Thanks in advance.
Gastrointestinal surgery for stoutness, likewise called bariatric surgery, changes the digestive process in order to attain fast weight reduction...Thanks
Hello everyone,
my husband has gout and is considering a weight loss surgery. He has been battling with gout for over 5 yrs and it has now gotten worse. He is experiencing pain in his neck. I feel horrible and cry most of the time because I am worried about him. We have tried all the home remedies and diets but it gets worse.
Has anyone had surgery that can share their experience with gout after surgery and how often an attac****urs?
Please I am desperate for answers. I see blogs about bypass and post op gout but nothing with pre op gout

this discussion brings up a worry. I have RA, fibro, carpel, and some osteo. I take a SLEW of meds; lyrica, cymbalta, mobic, xeljanz, oxycodone for extreme pain. I'm meeting with dr. today to do fast track, so fast track that since I have the band, I think he's just gonna schedule me before end of the year. With DS I can take my normal meds? or do I have to gice up some of the best, most helpful ones?
