Topic: Oh my aching _______

Pick a body part and it probably aches on me at some point during the week.

It all started with my tailbone at about a year out from surgery. But everyone assured me that it was very common with weightloss and my body would basically realign itself to accomodate the lack of padding. Let's just say that never happened. After countless $$ spent in co-pays at the chiropractor's office, the family practice doc, the surgeon, the orthopedist and even the pain management clinic....I gave up and decided to live with it. There is a cushion in every chair I sit in. I have a tote bag that I've outfitted to conceal my "little old lady pillow" that I take with me to church, the drs office and out to eat.  I even sold the sofa and bought a softer one.

Morning stiffness is a given. If I sit for more than 15 minutes I walk like a 900 year old woman. Sleeping is even painful with arms, legs, lower back and shoulders giving me a fit. It's a top of the line mattress that I used to find extremely comfortable and I've added a great topper to it that my dear boyfriend thinks makes it like sleeping in heaven.

With the exception of having taken a fall last year my knees had never bothered me....UNTIL...a few days before Christmas when I woke up with what felt like a twisted left knee. the sucker is killing me. It almost feels like the muscles in the back side are no longer long enough for my leg.

I've got an appointment scheduled for later this afternoon. Unfortunately (or maybe not) I'll be seeing a new doctor as mine has retired. So I have a list of questions & concerns along with a timeline to help show everything in a nutshell. Is there anything yall can think of that I should include to ask or mention?  I'm not trying to micro-manage or second guess my new doc...I'm just trying to make the most effective use of my appointment time.

Topic: RE: Hip replacement and WLS- which first

Thanks Rachel. I had my surgery in October and have lost 55 lbs, I have booked my surgery for may and hope to lose another 40 pounds before my hip surgery. Thanks for your input. I understand about the arms and hand pain from the walker. I have been using a cane for some time and my wrists are hurting so badly and I I have such calluses on my palms from the cane. I can hardly wait until the pain is gone.

I know this is an older thread but I had WLS 3 yrs ago and just got a new hip 9/6/12...walker for 6 weeks toe touch only...NO WAY I could've made it at top weight, my arms & hands were killing me from the walker, since then, I've had pretty much no pain unless I've gotten carried away, I have a tendency to do that. Good Luck whenever it's scheduled for both surgeries! by the way, the more weight you carry shortens the life of the new hip and crazy things like running & trampoline, I was advised against things like that!

Topic: RE: Barrett's Esophagus

You seem to have multiple problem related to your tummy. If you feel that hernia is the cause for all the problems in the esophagus, it is better to consult a Gastroenterologist. If I may recommend, pls visit Shouldice Hospital to check whether you need a hernia repair , so that most of your problems will be solved.

If your condition is really bad than i should go for the surgeries. Some times it is scary because of the side effects but you must clarify all your doubts before going to surgery.

Topic: Natural Pain reliefs for Arthritis as well as weight loss

Most of us wants to have natural pain relief for  arthritis. Diet and exercises are some the effective methods.

Like gout often affects when patient consumes foods that produce high uric acid, this can be controlled by diet that is excluding foods like meats, alcoholic beverages and many purine rich foods and including foods like bean curd, dark berries like black berries or blue berries, salmon, flaxseeds and olive oil.

Doing exercise on regular basis does not cure arthritis but it reduces the joint pain to a minimum level. It helps to tone the muscles, conserves the bone strength which keep the joints fit. It also improve the mental stability.

2013:  20 Funny New Year's Resolutions

When it comes to New Year's resolutions, our family members and friends can get quite creative and even funny with what they resolve to do in the New Year.  Here a few good ones I have heard along the way...Oh, and a few of my own!

1.  I resolve to stop procrastinating about procrastinating!

2.  I will stop sending Facebook messages and emails to my loved ones when they are in the same room as I am!

3.  I will use my treadmill for something other than a place to hang my jacket.

4.  I will not sit at the kitchen table in my PJ's all day.  Instead, I will move my computer to my bedroom.

5.  I vow to never take a laxative and a sleeping pill on the same night!

Yes it can. But you need a really good doc to do that. Not everyone can do that. Go to the revision forum on here.
