I did Optifast in the early 1990s and lost about 100 lbs. It's great for accelerated weight loss when you stick with it. It also seems to give you a lot of energy once you get past the first few days.
My problem was that staying on Optifast wasn't a realistic long term goal. Once I moved onto a modified Optifast program, I started eating the wrong things again. Then the weight piled back on, along with another 100+ lbs. This may not happen for you, but I'm just sharing my experience. I always found it very easy to lose weight when motivated, but keeping it off was an entirely different animal.
I wish you the very best of luck!

SO I have been taking snowboarding lessons. The first lesson, I was flat on my butt and the instructor came over, reached down to give me a hand up. I said oh no, I'm ok I'm far too heavy, you will hurt yourself.
He laughed and said he'd be ok.
So I tried and he pulled me up easily. I was shocked. I was also DELIGHTED!
I'm one month out as well. Even though I follow all the rules and do not overeat at all, I still have a "full" uncomfortable feeling in my chest a lot of the time. Are you experiencing anything like that?

It's possible you could be losing inches, instead of pounds, at this point in your weight loss.

Some people do have to do Optifast before their surgery. Others just varying forms of a liquid diet. Good luck! Once you are off the heavy carbs it does get easier...

A month out and I'm finally feeling a bit better. Still having to watch what I pick up and avoid heavy stuff, but I'm doing better about it and it's bothering me less everyday.
I'm going to be back in the gym next week - yay! I'm taking it slow, only a few days (every other day) and starting at half time to see how it goes.

No surgery planned, actually. I'm just doing Optifast on its own. I know pretty much everyone here is having some sort of surgery but I think I'm going to run into a lot of similar challenges, especially with people who are required to do the program before their surger.
