As many of you know after WLS I undertook a second career. I graduated nursing school in December and got my RN license in March. I accepted a job as a school RN in two inner city schools....well, it's not all I thought it to be. The organization I work for is very, very unorganized which is very stressful to me since I pride myself in organization. The income is good for the family budget but I really just want to find meaning to my career....ya' know? Anyway, I have an interview tomorrow morning for another job....this one working with adults in a position of occupational nursing, and, yes for more money and equal benefits. But it's not really all about that....I just want to feel God is in my choice, ya' know? It's really for a senior nurse and I don't even know if they will offer me the job, but they are willing to interview me.....I just want a job that I can feel fulfilled and of value in.....I want to work for a company that is organized.....that provides quality service and a work that I can be challenged by. I'm 57 years old....I want to make my years of employment this late in life really count! Thanks for your prayers dear friends.

Hang in there!! You will find the right job. I am a RN as well, and I discovered after a few years that I really enjoy doing Oncology nursing. Though it can be difficult at times. Do you know what area of nursing you want to work in?? I always recommend to people who are Brand new RN's, to work at least a year on a MED-SURG floor, than specialize. This gives you a broad range of patients to take care of and it will definitely develop your nursing and assessment skills. But just a recommendation. Oh and by the way I would have never been able to guess your age, you look waaay to young!! God Bless!! My prayers are with you that God will direct your steps and give you the desires of your heart! Amen! Lucy

I graduated in 2005 with an MSW to pursue a second career. I work part time on weekends in a psychiatric hospital. The nurses there are the best. I don't know if they would consider it organized, because I have different responsiblities and answer to different people for my job. I just know that it is a privilege to see how some of them handle the difficult behaviors of the more acute patients, especially on the adolescent unit. They teach me every time I go there. I will pray for you to discern the Lord's direction and control in your career decisions. Hugs, Trish

Ruthanna..I will be praying for wisdom and direction and if this is the Lord's position for you then they will offer it to you. Wherever we are we can be used of the Lord...this 57 yr old crossing guard/homeschool Mom/wife, not necessarily in that order....uses her love for Jesus and people everyday in some way or the other. and knowing you over this past year I know the Lord uses you because you are available to be used. That is all He wants...for us to be available for whatever He wants. Prov. 3:5-6 Love in Him, Joan

Ruthanna, I really want to encourage you to go directly to the Lord in prayer over this one and I will pray too. Ya Know, I had a similar situation, in that I knew there were two areas I could minister in on one particular day ( I am a substitute teacher)and I really wanted to be in two places at the same time, as God would have it after I petitioned him for clarification, he arranged it so I would have time in both situations that day. God is so amazing, and he does answer our prayers. He will answer you, I am certain. He isn't always on our time schedule, but He is always on time. Speaking of organization, that is what I love about substitute teaching, I have to be extremely organized myself and ready to go from K-12 in a moments notice. I also love leaving the classrooms organized and ready for the teacher to return to their classroom without missing a beat on anything. Please let us know what happens. Kim M.
