Can't you drink lactose free milk, like lactaid? or take a pill?
Topic: RE: Just was told I have Type 2 and ........
I was fully diabetic and before surgery I was having trouble controlling my blood sugar below 200.
In the hospital after surgery, they gave me some insulin to control it for the first 3 days, but not my normal pills I had been on.
A week after I was out of the hospital it was only 116.
over a couple weeks it went down to 104 and there is stays--with no pills.
They probably want to give you metformin and that doesn't have any bad side affects.

How long did it take for your levels to go to normal? I just found out I was "pre diabetic" but my sugar was 132. I have had to eliminate simple carbs from my diet and focus on protein, veggies and very little whole grain type carbs (pretty much like after WLS). I had some chocolate today and almost passed out at work!
Anyway, I know VSG will eventually eliminate this problem (hopefully 100%) but I wondered how long it would take.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Go ahead and work with your doctor and take your meds. You should know that there are horrible side affects from uncontrolled diabetes.
A lot of times type 2 diabetes can be improved by weight loss, but not always.
That is why I had the duodenal switch wls--immediately after the surgery my blood sugar was in control and I am no longer diabetic.
Good luck with your surgery and I hope it helps with the diabetes.

Topic: RE: HELP! Endocrinologist has abandoned me!
My Endo (T2DM) wasn't supportive of my having VSG, but after a couple years of research and consideration, I did it anyway. I'm 3 weeks out, sugars run 80-120 w/o any meds. I'm just following the eating plan to a T and in fact, find it hard sometimes to eat all I know I should. I'm a mom (4kids) & a critical care nurse and after years and years of taking care of everyone but me, I decided it was time to do the healthful thing for myself & have VSG. I'll never look back; it was the best decision for me
Good luck!!

Good luck!!
Topic: RE: I am pregnant and my OBGYN says
I say your doctor doesn't know what he is talking about. My doctor cleared me to start trying to have a child after one year once I stop losing. I'm now 6 weeks pregnant and doing great so far. You may want to find another doctor that is more experience with dealing with women who had weight loss surgery.
