Golytely, Nulytely or Poo lytely!

Has anyone put anything in the Golytely for flavor?  I have heard you can put Lemonade Crystal Lite in for flavor. I looked on the internet and have read don't add anything and I have read you can add the Lemonade flavor Crystal Lite. I have also heard they have come out with Nulytely and it comes with flavor packs.  I got the Golytely (PEG 3350). Should I ditch this and try to get the Nulytely with flavor Packs? Just how friggen bad is this stuff? Everyone says it is horrible.  What is the scoop?

It is a product used for colon cleanse before colonoscopy.

My pharmacist gave me an assortment of flavor packets you could add to the stuff.  I tried them all in individual servings.  The lemon was best.  My solution was to hold a glass of Crystal Lite lemonade in one hand and the glass of Golytely in the other and drink the lemonaide immediately before and after the Golytely.  That was the only way I made it through it.  Yuk!  Also keep it icey cold.

I had golytely and it's pretty heinous.  It's vaguely salty and full/smooth in texture, which is weird in the mouth (IMHO).  The real issue for me was the quantity once mixed and trying to get it all down in the alotted time.  I just didn't think I could do it.  I drank it and then drank diet cranberry ****tail (Ocean Spray makes it).  The cranberry helped me get the funky taste out of my mouth.  Drinking the golytely was pretty bad for me as I'm bothered by weird textures and tend to be a puker anyway, so I gagged a bit as I was doing it.  In the end I got it all down as well as a whole bottle of cranberry ****tail.  If I could do it..anyone else can too.   Keep your eyes on the prize...it's for your DS and this unpleasant beverage will be but a blip on the screen in the longterm. ETA: I pinched my nose closed whilst gulping a bunch of the golytely and that helped.  I let go only after I started gulping the cranberry ****tail.

Okay, my take on it. IT SUX! I just had it last week for a colonoscopy. I had the Nulytely and it came with 4 flavor packets I think. First I tried the lemon lim e I think it was. It was still terrible. I then add a peach tea crystal light, and it was somewhat better. I was not allowed to use red or berry. The flavor packets I liked were cherry and berry. But listen, I still only drank 3/4 of the container. I just could not drink it fast enough and yeah making it cold or adding ice did help some. Any ways, the doc was still able to do the procedure even though I never finished it. Though I am sure when it comes to the DS, y ou would want to make sure you drank it all I suppose.

My gastro let me add sugar-free Tang to mine ..  He said it wouldn't affect the colonoscopy (I guess the orange color won't cover up things?)  ..   My strategy was to drink a cup of it, then suck on one of those little red & white striped round mints to get rid of the aftertaste (he recommended that) ...  Just alternate this until it's all down ..

Did Buchwald tell you you had to do this test when you met him at the seminar or did this come later? Jennifer
