I am be quiet all this time but I am happy to announce my 12 weeks pregnancy. I am 18 months from my duodenal switch. I am wondering what protein can I use during pregnancy?

HECK YA! CONGRATS:)

I would imagine the protein is protein. The best for DSer's is whey isolate.

Congratulations!

I would recommend contacting Dr. Roslin in you haven't already to see what specific advice he might have for you You will also need to educate your OB about the DS, and maybe have the two of them confer directly with each other as well.

Congrats!  Whey protein isolate is the best.  I prefer Now brand unflavored whey protein isolate.  I get a 5 lb tub on amazon for $59!  I then sweeten and flavor it to my liking.  If you have any preggo questions, there are plenty of us around to answer questions.

Congratulations!!!

I went through three Lap-Band pregnancies and one VSG pregnancy.  Congratulations!  Protein is protein, but you need to make sure that your OB/GYN is fully aware of the DS and potential complications.  Ideally hook up your surgeon with your OB/GYN.  ALso, they may/may not want to refer you to a perinatologist (maternal fetal medicine specialist).

You need to get labs drawn yesterday (ideally before you got pregnant) to make sure all of your values are correct and stay that way throughout the pregnancy.  Not sure what the appropriate protocol is, but I wouldn't be surprised if they checked everything at least once per trimester.

Good luck...and have a healthy, happy pregnancy. :)

Lap-Band June 14, 2001. Dr. Rumbaut, Monterrey, Mexico.
Lap-Band removed after 7 years and converted to Sleeve Gastrectomy on July 7, 2008 by Dr. Roslin.  I've had three happy healthy Lap-Band babies.... and one VSG baby.  5 years out from revision to VSG.  Gained 55 pounds in past 5 months, now considering DS. :(
