Got my labs back, im anemic due to an iron deficincy.  Its my fault, I only recently started taking my vites as I should.  How much Iron should I take to get back to normal?  I also have Low Cholesterol, Protein is low, and Calcium is low, I need help people, how much calcium should I take?  Im a work in progress, slowly but surely Ill be healthy.  Maybe I should call VitaLady....

If you are new, please dont let my post scare you.  I am my own worst enemy,  it is my own fault that my labs are so bad.  Has nothing to do with the quality of the DS, its me, i did not comply as I should

Wow - so you're saying that for the three years since your DS surgery, you only recently started taking your vitamins? Scary!

I would monitor your labs every three - six months for the next 2 years to make sure you are trending up in all areas. Are you getting labs for EVERYTHING? They should be taking about 20 vials out of you each time.

I'm less than 4 months out, but this is what I'm taking (it's about 36 pills per day):

Vitamin A 25,000IU – 4 per day for a total of 100,000 IU
Tender Iron 60mg w/400mg Vitamin C (per capsule) – 5 per day for a total of 300 mg
Vitamin E 400IU – 2 per day for a total of 800 IU
Copper, CU-5, 5mg – 1 per day
Calcium 630 mg (Citracal) – 8 per day (each pill has 315 mg) for a total of 2,520 mg
Multi Vitamin/Mineral  - 2 per day
Vitamin D3 50,000IU – 1 per day (if your Vitamin D is low, take 2 per day for a total of 100,000 IU until your levels are back up)
Zinc 50mg – 2 per day for a total of 100 mg
Vitamin B-12 5,000mcg – 1 per day
B Complex 55 – 1 per day
Magnesium Citrate 250mg, *serving size is 2 tablets – 2 per day for a total of 250 mg
Vitamin C 1,000mg – 2 per day for a total of 2,000 mg
Vitamin K-1 1,000mcg – 1 per day
Vitamin K-2, 150mcg (MK-7) – 2 per day
B-1 100mg – 1 per day
B-9 Folic Acid 1,200mcg – 1 per day
Biotin, 5,000 – 1 per day

Good luck. Please stay on top of your vitamins and protein. This surgery is no joke and nothing to play with. Our commitment to vitamins and protein is FOREVER. :)

When you start taking a regimen such as Vitalady's start slowly and build up. The iron can be tricky. Start with one capsule for about 4 - 7 days and then add another, go another 4 - 7 days. If all is good, add the 3d and so forth until you're taking all 5. To get my saggy iron up I had to take the 5 capsules of Tender iron from Vitalady and 2 Proferrin tablets at bedtime. Proferrin is heme iron and that combo with the Tender did wonders. You snap the Proferrin half and take both halves. Proferrin doesn't mind being with various foods and vitamins but Tender iron, and most other irons, is very picky. You can take it with a little citrus or meat but no eggs, wheat, caffeine, calcium or dairy. To keep the cost within reason, I buy by the bottle rather than the pre-sorted, it's up to you.

I'll get to the other computer and post a link to the schedule and shopping list.

Hang in there!

Did you have the single anastomosis duodenal switch or the traditional one? Because the requirements may be different
