I'm taking vitamin K2 because it is supposed to help with putting the calcium we take into the right places, i.e. your bones. It may be helping some people absorb the vitamin D3 they are taking as well. I take 600mcg a day but I also have Osteopenia. My husband doesn't have a weight loss surgery but he takes 150mcg a day to go along with his vitamin D and calcium he takes. You don't have to take K2 at the same time as calcium, it isn't an absorption thing, you just need to have it in your system.

I take it too.  Same reason as Gina.

I was initially told to take k2 for the same reasons stated above. After a few months, I was told by the doctor it was more precautionary than required and they seldom see people with a k2 deficiency.

I no longer take k2 but if the lab work which so far has been good, were ever to indicate I need it, then I'd add it back in. So far, no need.

Keep in mind there is no lab test for vitamin K2, specifically. You get an Osteocalcin test and if it is running a little high chances are you need K2. Osteocalcin is similar to PTH in that a lower lab results is better than higher.
