I have a question, I'm sure I have Fibromyalgia and I'm going to make an Appointment to find out. Could you tell me what to expect from my first visit? I have had this for many years but lately the pain is getting worse and not sure if it's due to my weight loss.

Well if you see a primary doc they may refer you to a rheumatologist or neurologist because they usually are the ones who deal with fibro and some times pain management people. For starters they will most likely ask you lots of questions and like I said they will most likely refer you to a specialist. Once you see the specialist they will most likely run lots of tests because the diagnosis is more a matter of elimination. There is no actual test they can do to determine fibro. There are several meds they can give you that will help with the pain. Good luck to you and hope it all goes smoothly!

I have read some bad stories on here about Doctors not believing about Fibro. I asked my PCP to send a referral to the Rheumatologist. My problem is I'm tender all over and been wanting to figure it out. I'm sore around neck and shoulder area. I'm not sure what it is but want to know. I don't take any pills besides my vitamins so I'm not out for drugs. I don't want the Doctor to think I want pain meds because right now I can live without drugs. I will tell the Rheumatologist that I just want some answers why I'm so tender because it does hurt if you push the skin in, like a poke. I'm tender everywhere.

I totally understand and for many years that was the norm, we were told we were just overly emotional or it was women stuff but now it has actually been named a disease so many more docs are coming around. If one doesn't believe in it try another till you find a good one, they are out there.

I know just what you mean about the pain and fibro is very commonly in the neck and shoulder area also the back and hip area. Someone can just brush up against my arm and it feels like I've been jabbed with a knife! I can't even sleep in the same bed with my sweet hubby because he bumps into me and I feel like I was beat with a 2x4 in the morning. It is just awful sometimes I feel like I get beat every day, everything hurts all the time! So I sure do know how you feel good luck with the docs and like I said if you don't get a good one right away keep looking there are more and more now that believe and actually treat fibro.
