I just got an merina IUD.  I can't take any hormonal birthcontrol because of clots and bad headache issue's.  I am really liking it.  I have been having light spotting since I had it done about 3 weeks ago, but with this last period it was much lighter and alot less cramping.  But the PMS has been horrible, not sure if it is related or I am just a witch!  Good luck! chrissy

interesting! i hadn't thought about an IUD, but i just looked at the website and it looks like a good option for me. i like that it is 99.9% effective.

it says that good candidates for it have had children. have you already had children?

I have had one child.  But it was a c-section, so I don't know if that matters.  I guess from what I have heard is that it is more likely to come out if you haven't had any kids.  Not sure if that is the truth or not.  The big benefit for me is no meds to take.  I can hardly remember my coumidin, and that is Really imp.  I would really forget birth control pills.

yes no pills at this point would be a plus, because with my band i have to cut pills and it is a PAIN.

i am seriously considering this. thanks!!!

I guess you don't have to worry about the weight gain if you have a lapband?  I had heard Depo Provera causes weight gain.  Is that wrong?

As with anything, different people will react differently. I weighed so much when I started it, that I couldn't tell you if I gained weight or not. Certainly not noticeably. And from all I have read on it, the average weight gain is really low (maybe 10 lbs a year?) It's been a Godsend for me.
