Anyone else turned off by "Rants and Raves"?
I'm sure that me even mentioning this will be a siren call for the sociopathic malcontents over there to attack here, but I have to ask : WHAT THE F*CK IS WRONG WITH THOSE PEOPLE? "Rants" and "raves" are one thing, but neither of those words connote vicious personal attacks.
Reading some of the posts was like turning over a rock and watching white worms and maggots squirm out. Not being supportive doesn't begin to cover it. How about cruel? Mean-spirited. Insulting. Belittling. Sad. How about "mentally unbalanced"?
Are these people's lives so pathetic that they need to insult someone's SURGERY choice to make themselves feel better? Why does anyone else care - or think they have the right to an opinion - about someone else's surgery choice? To paraphrase by abbreviation of Dear Abby, MYOFB. I, personally, don't give a rat's patoot WHAT surgery someone chooses, as long as it works for them - I don't live their life. I don't care if you decide to have your guts removed, your bowels unplucked, your lips sewn together and your ass glued shut, as long as you think it's the right method for you, and that it works. No one gives me the right to mock you for choosing a WLS which differs from mine. And NO ONE gives someone else the right to verbally assault me for not choosing their method.
I can't believe that OH allows what goes on there. All I ever hear is that this is supposed to be a SUPPORT site, yet they allow those kinds of personal attacks and allow them to escalate and continue. It's sickening, and it's one rock I will not be picking up again. As bad as it gets in HERE sometimes, I have never seen anything as repulsive as that.

I must be going to the drama-free forums because I have never read a personal attack on someone. I never react because you never know what is going on in their lives. Someone who belittles another person for their looks/changes/thoughts is only battling something inside of them..they dont feel good about themselves therefore they want everyone else to feel as bad as they do...

Amen. Those people who write vicious stuff are cowardly and messed up themselves. Most hide behind anonymity and don't have the brains to realize how these posts reflect themselves. I just avoid forums like that and stick with the nice guys here. By the way, you are a hoot and I really enjoy your posts!

It's a horrible place I've decided is a good place to stay away from.
I don't like the posts or the directions they take and I'm here for support and friendship, not THAT.
I'm no prude and can get down and nasty with the best of them, but I won't condone anything that is perpetuated on that board WITH REGARD TO WLS. Misc. rants and raves, similar to our B*tchfest are ok, but trashing WLS types is just plain stupid and irresponsible.
