Food can get really stuck.....unfortunately not an urban legend.

Wow! I never would have expected ravioli to do that (or for that matter scallops!).  That sounds so very scary, but good to know and try to learn from your experiences.  I'm still waiting for my first fill and it's looking like the weather may delay it next week.

You poor thing - and a lesson to us all.

It has never happened to me but I alwyas realised getting stuck was possible (although I still believe that many of the episodes we call stuck are actually not!) but I did not know it could last so long and from something soft like pasta!!

A warning to us all!  Kate

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Wow, ravioli was on my soon-to-try list! I guess maybe I'll hold off a while!  I'm going for my first fill Monday (hopefully, my cough won't go away), so I guess ravioli is NOT in my immediate future! Thanx for the warning; glad you're feeling better!

Oh, how horrible...it must have been really scary!  I'm so glad that you got the unfill and felt such immediate relief!  Thanks for sharing the story.  As I move to solid foods this week, I am uneasy about getting stuck.  Your story reconfirms the need to be very careful!!  Glad you are on the mend!

wow, sorry you went thru this.  I had something similar happen to me last month, but it wasn't a food stuck, it was a fill, day after fill, slimed on my own spit for 2 days, couldn't drink water and  had reflux all night, ended up having that fill removed.  I'm staying right where I am for now.  probably not at my sweet spot, but I'll take it.  was hoping to get closer to my spot and loose some weight,  so slow for me, probably loosing 1 to 2 lbs a month.  but better then gainning.  I'll take it after that scarry eposode like you had.  hope all is better.

I'm SO glad to have read this today. Tomorrow I go for a much needed fill. With a little luck and patience, I might just have a successful visit and if I do, I'm going to need to heed this advice.

Chew, Chew, Chew....listen to my body. Stay away from no-no's, keep hydrated at all costs and if it doesn't feel right, call the MD.

THANK YOU!!!!

Good luck with your fill!

I honestly thought this would not happen to me......I am so careful, so it can happen to anyone.   I want to get as close to goal by nine months as possible, so I am back on my usual food routine.

Getting to 100 lbs for me was a real mind screw to begin with......I  just have 5 lbs to lose for my Valentine's Day goal, I need to get my butt in gear......I enjoyed too much hummus, tortilla chips and cheese and crackers on saturday (ate protein too......but way too much grazing).

I can totally tell the difference in my fill,  1CC is a TON!  I don't even want to wait until Thursday to be honest, because I know I could call and probably get in sooner, but maybe I am being a baby.  Today my throat is swollen and I am draining like crazy so I should probably wait to be safe.

I'm so glad you are o.k.!  What an experience.  Who would have thought...ravioli?!  It seams like it would be a "slider" food.  Noodles are one of the hardest things that I've given up.  I eat this shrimp won ton soup often without any trouble but I'd better be really carefull!
Thank you for sharing!

Not only stuck but can irrate your stomach.  I ended up waiting and having half of the liquid in my band removed to allow things to settle down - so I hear your pain.

Personally I dont want a fill right now, I can eat some bread, a little rice a very small amount of potato and I feel good for it.  The weight isnt coming off, but I would rather be able to actually eat something and feel normal!
