The six month is not a bad thing at all.
1 - You will know whether or not you really want to do this. If you can't follow a six month diet to lose a little weight, will you really be able to follow the recommended eating after surgery?
2 - You'll learn alot about yourself. What are you food triggers? During the six month phase, you'll learn what to do about them.
Hang in there.

It depends on your insurance. I had bc/bs and I had to do the 6 month nutrition class. There are only a few insurance co. that don't require it. Good luck Dr. Lomenzo is awsome.

If anyone has had a surgeon from this team at UMMC......Do they make you go on that 6 month diet no matter what or does it depend on your insurance...
Last year when I had BC/BS they told me I would have to go on one. Now I have UHC and they don't require that. all that they want is a case setup by my PCP for approval.
HELP!

After about a week of unbearable reflux feeling like I've needed a fire extinguisher for my esophagus and no amount of zantac or tums has really helped, I've decided to make an appointment right away with Dr. Singh and I'm able to get in already on Thursday afternoon.
I guess we'll tackle my problematic symptoms first before discussing any type of revision but I'm pretty sure I'll be on my way for a Fluroscopy or some kind of barium swallow to see what if anything is going on.
Not sure what to expect but I know I will be getting nervous on my way over there. I will post an update when I find out what the heck is happening! Need to hope for the best outcome here all the way around!

Thanks Nicole and Linda - I hope to be posting some good news on here really soon. I may not be able to wait out my May Dr. visit however. The reflux is becoming so bad that it's constant and I'm taking at least 2 zantac per day and eating tums! It really doesn't matter what I eat or drink, I still get symptoms.
Potentially i guess this could be a slip but on the other hand I do not have the same symptoms as a usual slip which is is heartburn at night and coughing, being able to eat larger portions etc.
I hope that whatever is going on there is a resolution in the interim until I figure out what my options down the road are....

i think based on your symptoms that the band should come out. horrible heart burn just is not ok! i sure hope you get the revision you want. i do know that people with the band seem to get approved for the vsg revision so push for that if that is what you want. good luck sweetie. things will get better.
