Topic: Feeling Pretty Helpless

Hey there! So I am 20 years old and already pushing 260 lbs and that's being forgiving..I've tried exercising and eating right, but it's very hard being a college student and working full-time. Not to mention I have a desk job, which doesn't really promote a lot of activity. It's hard to afford the right groceries and forget that expensive gym membership. I was hoping to gain some knowledge from you all and tips or ideas on how to loose this weight in natural way. I'm making my goal weight 160 lbs...that's 100 lbs to loose but I'm determined. I can't look int he mirror one more day, or put on another pair of size 18 pants.. If there's anything you can recommend I'd really appreciate it.

Topic: RE: Has anyone lost over 100 lbs and kept it off? Would love to learn..

I saw this post and I had to respond.  I have struggled with my weight since I was a little girl.  I am now 39.  People used to tell me all the time that the decision to lose weight and keep it off is truly a "lightbulb" moment, but I never believed them.  I do now.  I was on a ride at an amusement park and my Mother In Law was directly across from me with my daughter.  They tried to buckle me in and they just couldnt do it.  I saw the look of horror on my husband's Mom's face and I felt disgusted with myself.  The very next weekend we attended a BBQ with friends.  I had a plate of food and when I went to sit down in the lawn chair it pretty much cracked and I fell in front of everyone.  My husband came to my aid, but I could tell he was so embarressed. That was my lightbulb moment.

I found jogging.  I found Weigh****chers.  I found this website.  I lurk all the time and I have been doing it for over 4 years now.  I stay focused.  I know I have a problem with food and I accept that, but I dont let it control my life anymore.  It will be a challenge for me until I leave this Earth and I accept it.

I started out at 331LBS at 5 foot 9.  I am now at 208lbs.  My goal, which I have yet to reach is 180.  I had a tummy tuck 2 years ago from excessive skin.

What works for me?  I never have and never will say "I cant" eat something.  I eat anything I want WITHIN REASON.  For me...if I deny myself it just wont WORK.  I tried HUNDREDS of diet plans before and I never stuck to them.  So now I just dont DIET.  I make the best choices for ME.  If I want pizza, I will have A SLICE...  I will also ensure I did my workout and weight training that week if I want to splurge with calories.  If it is a birthday party and they have cake, I eat it.  I then know the next day I will be more mindful of my sugar and carb intake.  It is all about balance.

I also believe that the gym is important.  Or any form of exercise that you enjoy.  AND INCORPORATE WEIGHTS.  I can not stress this enough.  I am a single Mom now (husband and I are over), and my time is limited.  I do weights 5 days a week and hi-intense cardio as well.  I would say my sessions are about 45 minutes.  FIND THE TIME FOR YOU!  I know you can do  this.

I get very emotional typing this because when I tell you how hard it was for me to have that lightbulb moment and look at that scale and KNOW I had to lose so much weight, it was OVERWHELMING.  I didnt know where to start.  I wanted a MAGIC PILL or anything to just take it off quickly so I could be done with it.  Well, it was hard work and sometimes that damn scale wouldnt budge an ounce, but I never stopped.  I slip up.  I AM HUMAN.  I gained back 10 lbs and then I work my butt off to drop it again.

You can do this.  Since I was 5 years old I have had a weight problem.  I loved food like a BFF...  I have faith in you

May I ask which CDs you are referring to?

Thanks for the info.  The hypnotist said it would take about 21-28 days of listening to the CD before it became permanent.  I don't feel any different today, but I have not wanted a sweet.  It must have done something.  I'm pleasantly surprised at how my desire for choc went down today.  I own a bakery and sweet shop, so I am around it all day.  I hope this is the answer I have been looking for.

hi everybody. As a experienced hypnotherapist i would say that hypnosis is the most efficient way for weight loss. there is no pills, no negative side effects, boosted self esteem and self confidence, and the change you make is permanent. and you don't need to go on  diet. in hypnosis you can work through the source of the problem that caused you to start gaining weight.  that could be an event in your past (a stressful or a traumatic event) so within the same session you will find the ability to manage stress as well.

as for the group session i would like the one to one approach because the therapist can give you more attention and can work on YOUR habits. ( NOT IN GENERAL).

in group session the probability of success drops from 95% to 70% (but i think your therapist will explain this to you) for any other question feel free to ask me.  my email is [email protected]

I am going to a group hypnotist tomorrow.  I'll let you know how it goes.  Has anyone ever tried this before?

Topic: RE: Has anyone been prescribed medication for weight loss? Did it work?

Hi, I have been treated twice in my life for medical weight loss. In both instances I lost about 30lbs. The key for me was changing my relationship with food. I look at food a fuel for the most part and try to make choices for high protien high fat foods. They satisfy me and I dont overeat. My doctor supports me whenever i start to struggle again. Dr Horlsey in Nashua is understanding and does not judge. Finding someone who is not biased against overweight people is hard to do.

After I woke up today, I became devastated after I’d weighed myself.  I was at 308 pounds, making my BMI 60.1,( I’m only 5’0” tall) making it a 6 pound increase from my last dr. office visit

a little over 5 weeks ago.  I had started eating more fruits and vegetables and drinking more water but everything was turned around this past weekend.  I went to several bbqs and picnics

with friends and family and spent most of Monday on the couch watching tv.

I thought I could lose weight on my own and avoid or at least delay getting wls.  This weekend was a setback.  I would give anything to lose at least 100 pounds without surgery.  I’ve attended

Weigh****cher groups before but most of the other women only had 20 or 30 pounds to lose

and many seemed to reach their goals in 5-6 months.  I’ve got a real serious amount I need to

lose.  Is it even possible to lose 100 pounds without surgery?

I’d like to meet other who face similar weight loss challenges and hope to at least lose some of it without surgery.

I lost10# without surgery once.mgained it alle bck with some its friends tagging along.

if you COULD, lose weight without surgery why haven't you already? Cause you can't? That question needs to be. Answered first. If I CAN do it,what am I waiting on,what is taking me so long to do it?

i knew I wanted a permanent resolve of my obesity andahveotten that, maintaining my loss for Over 5 years .
