Topic: RE: Reviewing 2012
I keep hoping to have my laptop open and answer this! In a nutshell:
Jan 23,2012 I answered the call and made my faith in Jesus public. I was baptized in August
My son turned 4 in April.
My little family played all summer. We were camping/fishing/traveling every weekend.
Took my kids to two amusement parks. Spent a to. Of time with family.
My baby girl turned 7 and also started the first grade (with *my* first grade teacher!)
Of course y'all know about the plastic surgery and my super blessed recovery.
I too look forward to 2013 and I am interested to see what all I can accomplish this year. I start back to college two Mondays from now!!

Topic: RE: I have to ask this question...difficulty with prescription
Hi and welcome!!!
This is an interesting question. I never explored pills so my research is limited. I believe most pills are meant for short term use. I would think helping you get started would be a good use. Maybe they cause more harm than good?? I just don't know. Was there a particular pill you wanted?
It is interesting that surgery is "pushed" and pills are seemingly off limits.

Hi Reenie. Welcome to the non surgical forum. I am not sure where you are from. I am in Ontario Canada. Here to my knowledge there is only one prescription medication approved for weight loss. It is called Zenical or generic name is Orlistat. I talked to my PCP about this option before. But she didn't think it would be a good option for me. Used to absorb less fat from foods and is excreted by bowel movements. Can cause oily movements and accidents it requires the dieter to eat less fat. I have had my share of bowel problems so we didn't think it was my best option. I always wheat/carb intolerant. I have my best success following a low carb plan and exercising. My weight loss is really slow and often stalls if I can't abstain from the carbs. I am currently weighing 250 ish but my high weight was 299 in 2007. I considered WLS too but decided
Against it, even though it is the most popular and paid for treatment in Ontario. I feel that there are too many risks of future complications and far too many restrictions. I just coulnt do it. The surgery would treat what's in between my ears either lol. Weight loss is a
Mind trip all by itself. I am fairly happy with what I have accomplished and plan in continuing to make healthy food choices and exercise regularly. I really hope you can find something that works for you. This board is quiet but a few of us post. I still read the surgical forums because I know the Ontario one shares get tips about eating plans recipes. I also like to read the success stories. I also get reminded about the difficulties and sometimes tragedies of people who have chosen the surgical approach. Keep checking in with us and again welcome to the forum.

Topic: I have to ask this question...difficulty with prescription
I don't want to have surgery at the moment and I wonder why it is so difficult to get doctors to prescribe any dietary pills first? I think I am a good candidate for this. In fact I think this may work to help me along with nutrition and exercise. But when I mention getting pills doctors make me feel like I have a problem...and boy does that make me angry. I'm not a drug addict or anything like that I just think with everything I have read these may be just what I need to jump start my weight loss. Why make these pills if they cannot be used? Interesting that surgery has been offered but not this non-invasive help. Any suggestions or comments are welcome.

Looking over the past year and
It's been full if ups and downs, in life and on the scales. Lol lol. I survived 2'surgeries to remove infected glands from under my arms. Dealt with seromas, infections and illness for over 10'months. I explored weight loss surgery and decided against it. Buried a dear friend in June. That was difficult but faith got me through.
Now the fun stuff! I didn't let my weight stop me from getting on ice skates for the 1 St time in over 20 yrs. My DH got me a bike for our anniversary in June. We rode our bikes to the Shrine to attend Mass a few times and had picnic lunches. Fall was beautiful here we had great weather. Joined Curves gym in Sept. Had a wonderful simple Christmas. I learned a lot about my emotional and night time eating behaviors and have asked for help! The scale didn't move much but I did lose about 2'clothing sizes. When I pulled out my fav red
Shirt to go to Mass on Christmas Eve Hubby said I couldn't wear it. It looked like a tent! Lol lol I am looking forward to 2013? How about You? Would love to hear your yr in review! What are looking forward too in 2013? Peace be with you all in 2013!

I too indulged in sweets. I felt totally bleh yesterday evening. I did get up and run this morning and returned to my normal eating. I keep telling myself, "it wasn't one day that got me where I was and it wasn't one day that got me where I am... It is the sum of the whole."
Our Christmas was perfect....we even had about a foot of fresh fallen snow!!

Hello all hope you had a good holiday! All is well here except that I am exhausted and feeling in need of a good detox. I had way too many sweets and alcohol and honestly I feel yucky! I can't eat the way I use to without physically feeling the after effects. This year I ate better and less than previous years. But still feel I had too much. My energy is very low, my sleep is poor and sugary treats lead to some night eating again. I look and feel terrible. Puffy, bloated, irritable, stomach upset etc. So not worth it! Got to get bk to clean eating this wk. Sending gifts of chocolates, cookies and other treats out the door with my hubby tomorrow. He can share them with his co- workers. Please chck in and let us know how your doing and feeling. I haven't posted in a bit, but I know sharing will help get me bk on track too.
