If it was no holds barred on a forum such as as this one, Obesity Help would not retain records of all postings, which is done in the event that they are subpoenaed and the postings used as evidence. Someone may feel the right to say something, someone else has the right to take them to court, it's the American way. And then there are the threats, those are not treated as a right to speech either.

Free speech on a forum, such as this? No there are limitations, this site is owned and has every right to determine what is allowed or where it's allowed to be posted.
But to answer your question Kate.. The right to freedom of speech is not absolute, there are numerous limitations such as: slander, obscenities, hate speech. trade secrets, copyright violations etc. Example of the most elementary limitation is falsely shouting fire in a crowded theater and creating unnecessary panic.
You ask about the KKK, as long as they are not violating any laws yes it's permissible for them to support their organization, the same as any other organization which may or may not be racially based.
Caesar Salad
Baked Ham
Asparagus with Blue Cheese and Tomatoes
Scalloped Potatoes
Apple Pie
I'm giving myself permission to have some of each but knowing me my choices will be ham and asparagus. Who knows, maybe a couple of bites of salad to start but I'll never get to the pie. Edit - or the potatoes!

I've always found it funny that the usual Easter main dish is non-kosher... as my mother always joked, "Why serve something the guest of honor can't eat?"

Unfortunately yes, the Klan is alive and well in the US. People can speak on just about any topic in the US and claim their right to Freedom of Speech. Much like the Right to Bear Arms. I don't believe our Founding Fathers would have supported the use of today's super guns or many other things happening in the US today. We still live in incredible country but it is changing fast for the worse unfortunately.
It's difficult, isn't it! I can't even pretend to understand the issue of guns in the US but I can see that freedom of speech is complicated. The KKK would not be allowed to march or to declare their views to an audience here, but that involves some sort of value judgement. And who makes those judgements on behalf of the citizens? Our parliament passes the laws which the police and courts enforce but by so they are denying freedom of speech to one group who are also citizens!
i think I very much prefer to have the limitations but it undeniably means we do not have complete freedom f speech! I suppose as long as we have a democratically elected government, there are checks and balances.

Thank God for freedom of speech in the USA. People in many countries don't have that basic right, even in the business world. On internet forums it means putting on your big girl panties and realizing that you can't force your own wishes of a utopian forum on others....you'll end up being called the forum asshole or much, much worse.
Saw Kerala mentioned a couple times above - I add my voice to that. We did a 3 week trip from Madurai, Tamil Nadu to Aleppo in Kerala, then up the coast to Trissur - then In to Nagarhole - the ecolodge there was great - lots of wild elephants... Pix
Siem Reap Cambodia - Ankor Wat... Pix
Vietnam, both the South and the North were great... we did some good tours out into the small villages in the North, near the china border; Pix
Burma/Myanmar... very interesting. We traveled around a little, Bagan was fascinating... Pix

My daughter got mono when she was 25. She is now 31 and whenever she gets a bug her lymph nodes swell to the size of golf balls, and she is laid up for days. I think the fatigue is the worst for her
