Does OHIP cover Panni AND Breast Lift ??
I was talking to a new friend and they mentioned that if you lose over 100lbs and have charted issues of rashes, problems with the apron that Ohip will cover the cost of the Panni
Then....they also said OHIP will cover the cost of a breast lift under the same cir****tance.
Has anyone had any experience with this ??
I am going to need both the panni, breast lift and have my angel wings clipped
....hope I can get a deal !!
Any feedback is appreciated
Warmest Regards
Valerie
IF you get a second chance, grab it with both hands. If it changes your life...LET IT !!
In the overall scheme, I only had 1 pound taken from one, and 1 1/2 from the other, so this is minimal compared to other reductions. The doctor didn't hesitate to do it b/.c of the sag. Maybe it'll be the same for you. :)

As for the lift being covered, if all you need is a lift, they won't cover it. If you require a breast reduction then they can sometimes make a case to get the lift thrown in especially if you have a history of back pain. I need a lift but not a reduction and the PS said they won't cover any of that.
Tracey is right on the money. OHIP will cover the panni, if medically required. You need to document all rashes etc to even be able to make your case. Plus the overhang of your panni must meet a certain criteria. Your next hurdle is to find a surgeon who'll only do the panni. According to one surgeon I saw, they only get paid $450 to do it & therefore, many will not just do the panni, but encourage you to "upgrade" to a full tummy tuck & pay the difference.
Regarding the breast lift, I don't believe this is covered (although you can try by documenting rashes, pulled muscles etx). The last plastic surgeon I consulted with told me point blank that I would not qualify for the panni & I did qualify for a breast reduction (whi*****ludes the lift). I'm just waiting for confirmation from OHIP now.
Take care,
Andrea
OHIP approved panni removals are 100% better than nothing but they are NOT a tummy tuck with muscle repair! Also, if you are cursed with an upper and lower skin flap (muffin top along with panni flap) a straight panni removal or even a straight tummy tuck with muscle repair may not be enough and an anchor cut tummy tuck (aka as the Fleur de lys cut) may be needed to give you a nice hourglass figure (worked wonders on me!!). As for the breast lift thing as others have said it is not generally covered as a standalone procedure….if you need a reduction great but a straight lift is out of pocket.

Hamilton & Area Support: http://findyourweigh.webs.com/index.htm

Reduction: Covered
Lift: Not covered but can be included for an addition charge typically.
Now... Things to note:
1. Any Plastic Surgeon you see should see you, and put things through via your OHIP card for the initial consultation for a Reduction.
2. You will find many who want to charge just for a consultation, and if they do this then they tend to do paid reductions I have found... Or only bill a limited number of them through OHIP.
3. Some places will tell you it will take a while to get "approval" for a reduction... Others will tell you it takes less than 2 weeks, and that is for THEM to worry about and not you. The places that say it is for THEM to worry about are really where you want to go. There is no surprises with them.

I've seen his work for augmentation, reduction, fixing a reduction botched by another surgeon... He's not Ham/Burl/Oak but he is Islington & Bloor and works out of St. Joes Toronto so in the right zone.
