donating skin?
I heard something about this a few years ago pre WLS when i was freaking out about having to spend tons of money on cosmetic surgery.
My ex BF (who was a bit of a tale teller
) said that as long as the skin had a good healthy blood supply that it doesn't matter what the skin looks like. I asked about the saggy wrinkled issue and he said because they shave off the top layer with something similar to a cheese slicer that it doesn't matter if is saggy or not. When they graft it to the burn victim it never looks nice and smooth like their skin was before the burns.
He had told me when i was ready, to contact the Shriner's and talk to them about donating skin and tissue, he said that they will usually cover some of the costs if not all for the children's burn unit. He said that they are always in desperate need of skin and tissue.
Whether it's a myth or not... I'm just happy that someone else has heard about this and my ex BF wasn't totally lying is ass off to me LOL!!!!
Edit: spelling =)
