Fry's cocoa powder
Hi - I use Fry's cocoa because I like the taste better than I like the taste of Walden Farms chocolate sauce, although I keep Walden's around for emergencies. I've pasted the nutrition facts of Fry's cocoa below and it seems to me that it is an acceptable source of chocolate flavour. The reason that I am posting this is that I never see anyone posting about Fry's.
Are there issues with using it? The sugar content seems okay - 0.1 per tablespoon, which is the amount that I use. And the fat and carb content looks okay and there are just 16 calories per tbsp.
So I am wondering... does anyone else use Fry's and are there reasons that one should not use it? Am I overlooking something?
Thanks.
Margaret

We buy ours from the bulk food store. They have two choices there and one of them weighs in as being smarter than the other. We add it to our hot chocolate mixture that we make. 1 scoop chocolate protein powder, 1 scoop skim milk powder, 1 tsp of cocoa powder, cinnamon and sweetener to taste. We make it in bulk batches, so for just 1 cup we would not be using 2 whole scoops unless you had a mighty big cup and a really large pouch.
I never even thought of getting this at the bulk food store. Thanks for the recipe - I'll try it.
I make hot mocha: 1 tbsp. Fry's cocoa, 1 tsp. decaf coffee, a little ho****er to combine, fill the rest of the mug with 1% milk, heat and enjoy! I'll have to look for chocolate protein powder because I drink my mocha every day and it could use some more protein.
I'm glad to see that others use the cocoa powder.

I have personally always used Cocoa powder to make my own sauce. I like dark chocolate vs. the sweet Hershey's style crap (waaaaaay to sweet!). Also allows me to control how much sugar I put in - mix with splenda now and a little milk to mix together in a paste and then make choc. milk or thicker to put on my protein ice cream. Yum!

the stuff is gold... i love really good cocoa powder, so buy either Valrhona (french) or Callebaut, which is think is from belgium ??
anyway, post surgery, i wont eat crap stuff... i use cocoa in shakes in the morning and this is why we buy only vanilla protein.. as making it chocolate with cocoa tastes better
