"Optifast Has a Hormone or Drug In It That Drains Fat Out Of Your Liver
Then it should have stayed there - in PM.

What a learning experience this thread has been!
I am truly sorry if this thread upset you...I know first hand how posts on here can be taken to heart for sure...it is sooo impersonal, you can't read the tone of the conversation..but this was a good discussion for sure.
Thank you for replying!
Take care in your recovery.

Yes, it can be taken alone but supervise closely by a doctor and blood work. There is a limit to how long you can use it, that is why it is not widely used and even more research needs to be done. Hence why you can only get it at the Doctors office or with a prescription. Blood work must periodically follow, every two weeks or so. BUT there is a Diet company in Toronto that is all about this dietary Supplement....Just google it, you will find it on the first few responses. It was invented by a doctor...but one that really did want to help with the obesity problem in Canada...His heart is in the right place, again more research needed. Yes, this was overwhelming, I am a very kind, compassionate person and I felt bad vibes. I have been a nurse for over 17 years...... besides,I am not ready to start thinking, my brain is still half asleep it's just getting clear!
Thanks again,
Tracy

Looking again, I found it at the end of the list of ingredients in the Vanilla flavour. Fructose, Sugar, Glucose syrup are closer to the beginning of the list. Sweetners are also before lineolic acid.

Think twice, cut once! I've had 3 surgeries now, RNY, VSG and DS

Ask me about the DS or visit dsfacts.com

2010 - RNY to VSG

I am not going to apologise for my post because I did nothing wrong - the sentence that prompted this stands on it's own. I quote..."Try to get the optifast, and/or call your surgeon, he can give you some but also realize that there is a hormone and drug in the optifast that helps to drain fat from the liver and around the heart." I'm sure you can now see why it caused alarm.
I do feel bad that you took my initial post the way that you did. From what I've heard things can get quite catty on here so I even understand why you took it in a way not intended - but that I can't control. I have class and a full life and have no intention of ever playing in board drama. As you may have read, I appreciated every response, even the ones that disagreed with me. I am here to learn and I am humble enough that I appreciate being corrected when I'm wrong. Actually I look forward to it...
My issue, if my first post and the ensuing posts were interpreted in the tone they were intended, were meant to call out the medical professionals. I find them sorely lacking in the area of obesity. Nice and somewhat knowledgeable isn't enough. That is my opinion and I am entitled to it. I know that MANY others agree.
I am 100% grateful for the WLS I had, however the whole process could have been handled much better and I wish the doctors and nurses were more informed along the way. There were sooo many questions they couldn't answer that I could go on and on.
It didn't start there either, I spent 10 years wondering why I couldn't lose the weight I gained after an injury and finally about 1.5 years ago a doctor was smart enough to start testing me for ovarian cysts. The other doctors just chalked it up to calories in and calories out. They didn't believe I was doing it properly but it wasn't working. Do I have a chip on my shoulder about this? HECK YES! Am I the type of person that is just going to go on complaining about it forever and do nothing? NO! I have plans...big ones...which involve starting a business to educate. As soon as I am down enough weight to be taken seriously...that's when I'm starting. I've been working on it for 2 years, the business plan is done and the funding is in place.
Tracy, I wish you the very best in your recovery and the road ahead. I'm truly sorry this debate upset you. Again, it was not intended to be a personal attack or be taken personally.
I too and incredibly interested in finding out where this information comes from.
BTW...by OP Louise means the person who first posted about Linolec Acid...not me.
Donna...if you recall, I suggested the very low carb for pre-op only to sub for the optifast she couldn't get until Tuesday. And if you read the list of foods I ate, certainly they were all healthy - 0 processed food. I actually felt great and had an event free menstruation for the first time in over a year!!
I certainly wouldn't advocate such low carb soon post surgery!!! Actually this is something I'm interested in knowing about. When can I start low carbing again?
Why is the sequence of posts all wonky this evening?
I still eat pretty low carb, but not enough to put me into ketosis by any stretch of the imagination.

When I was in my "losing phase" I tried to stay around 30g per day, but that is very low. I think your plan is excellent and sounds very healthy.
