I got to Guelph at 10 this morning thinking Candace would be just about out of surgery and headed to recovery. Instead I found her husband and mother-in-law in the waiting room and they told me the surgery was cancelled.
I was in shock! I think they were still in shock.

It may have been that Candace had an allergic reaction to the anesthesia, so she wasn't getting the oxygen she needed for them to proceed with the surgery.
Candace is fuming angry as she had come out of the anesthesia and asked, "Did I have the surgery?" and the replied with a 'No".

Dr. Pierra-Hong wants her to stay in over night to keep an eye on her and the respirologist was still to come and see her and try to figure out what the problem was for sure. The surgeon thinks she can get on the list right away, but my guess would be that she would be scheduled then in another 6 weeks.

Expect some "flaming" posts from Candace soon.
She'll need our love and support as she waits for another surgery date. I at least got to see her for a few minutes and give her a hug and encourage her it will happen. I was glad I could actually get there to give a little support.

Oh Liz... I'm so sorry to hear that about Candace.  I have to admit when I saw the title of your post, I was terrified to open it. Thankfully they realized there was a problem before something more serious happened.  My thoughts are with her and thank you for the update.

oh my goodness my heart.

I'm sure she is absolutely frustrated and discouraged, but I too will confess I thought you were going to tell us something much much worse.

Hopefully they can uncover what the issue is and she will be on the bench in no time.

oh nO! I am nearly lost for words. I can't imagine the heart break. Superior let down.

This is horrible.  I hope they give her options to move forward.

Oh how devastating for Candace however, my heart sank too when I came across this post.  I am so thankful they stopped when they new she was in danger.  I totally understand Candae may not feel the same right now though ((((((    ))))))).  HOpefully they figure out the issue and her day comes sooner than later but safely.

OH don't do that. Whew.
But how totally disappointing,  better safe than sorry.

She must be totally heartbroken.  My heart goes out to her and I hope they can give her a different type of anesthesia next time and that it comes REALLY soon.  Poor thing.  I can't even imagine how I would cope if that happened to me.

Awwww.....poor Candace. What a let down....that is just awful. 

I mean, I am so glad that she is safe and thankfully the doctors knew what they were doing and stopped the surgery before she was in too much danger.  Obviously something serious was going on or they would not have stopped the surgery.

The disappointment for Candace must be so overwhelming right now.  Please let her know that she is in my thoughts....I doubt right now that much can be said to her that will make her feel better but sometimes just knowing that people are rooting for you can help a little.

The main thing is that Candace is ok and they caught a potential problem.  She will have the surgery when it is all sorted out. 

Such a sweet girl.  She was going to have her husband send me her unused optifast, as a gift, tomorrow.  Good thing she didn't send it yet.  I have a feeling she is still going to need it.
