Gazelle vs. Stationary Bike?
Look for one on kijiji, yard sales or second hand venues. They are often MUCH cheaper. Often around here you can get one for $50-$100 rather than pay full price. They are okay - I had one for many years. If you can afford to make a bigger purchase a treadmill is a good bet - more flexibility in terms of adapting to your fitness level (walk/jog/run).

Thank you (: I've found one just up the street for $45 via Craigslist. I wish I could afford a treadmill, but that's not possible right now - I just want to know if it's silly to purchase this (as I just bought the bike 3 months ago) if the bike will aid in losing more weight overall. I'm a bit ignorant to exercise equipment!
Good buy for the money then. IMHO, i think the gazelle is better than a bike. The bike really works primarily on the lower body. With the gazelle you can engage the whole body - legs and arms and can work the core more. There are little variations that you can do (stand differently on the gazelle, use just arms etc) to vary it up a little. If you can get any dvds that go with it, that might be good too as I found that doing the gazelle to tv was kind of boring and harder to "push myself" to work harder without the dvds (if you can stand tony that is! LOL!).

I've had a gazelle for several years. I used to hang clothes on it because I was really too heavy for it and it made an awful noise.
Now I use it 3-4 times a week for 30 minutes. I have bad knees and I like that it's virtually no impact. I like that it uses my arms as well. I just don't like the 'slapping' noise from my 'batwings'. (I'm laughing as I write this...but I'm proud of them...lol)
2 thumbs up for me.
I prefer a walk in the fresh air but hate the cold...brrrrr

My Beautiful

I went through 14 Gazelle's in a year. They would last me just under a month before I would wear it out. Thankfully Walmart has a great return policy and I would just return the broken one and buy a new one.
I LOVED the Gazelle and would ride for about 90 minutes a day. I finally got sick of building Gazelle's so I bought a Bremshey elliptical. It's good but not as much fun as the Gazelle.
Put the Gazelle on a mat or something as they ruined my floor and carpet. They left black marks on the carpet and scraped the linoleum.
I lost about 60 lbs in 5 months but when I slacked off on the exercise the weight came right back.
