who knew chicken broth could be so DIVINE!!
Day 2 of optifast today.. starting to go through carb withdrawl..feeling a bit fatigued and slightly cranky. Had to travel to Toronto yesterday for my preop tests this morning at 7AM.. (its a 4 hour drive so we set out yesterday and stayed at super 8 on Spadina Ave).. it was an adventure travelling with OPTIFAST.. have a small immersible blender that I can tuck away in my purse.. mix up the optifast shake when we make a pit stop.. desperate times call for desperate measures LOL..
when I got home this afternoon from TWH I broke down and had 2/3 cup of plain lowfat chicken broth.. OMG. who knew it would taste so good!!.. almost decadent! a real treat after all that sweet optifast.
Two days down.. 12 to go.. I have to return to TWH on the 22 of Feb to meet with endocrinologist
because I have type 2 diabetes. Even though I was monitored by endocrinologist at Windsor Bariatric clinic, they still insisted that I see the endocrinologist at TWH preoperatively.. so.. we head back to TWH again next week.. getting to be a weekly thing LOL, but I won't complain as I have waited for this for months on end and now its happening.
I sort of wish I had ordered 3 boxes of chocolate optifast and one of vanilla instead of two and two as I find the vanilla a bit hard to adjust to. It seems to me to have a chalky aftertaste compared to the chocolate. maybe its just my tastebuds on the fritz.

well done, and i will tell it does get easier, i'm on day 8 now. when i was drinking the vanilla i made my self belife it was Mc D's melted ice cream lol don't know why but it worked for me, so i als am alloud to have jello, broth tea or coffee decafe, gd luck you are almost there, keep your eyes on what you really want, and it wont be long now.

How exciting for you to be so close to surgery!
I think others have mixed the vanilla with various sugar free flavourings and crushed ice - made a milk shake-ish thing out of it. Those who have been thru it may have more suggestions for you - you'll be so sick of Optifast that you'll need to come up with ingenius ways to mask the flavour.
