The fuzzy peach and iced tea sound delish. Where do you get that brand from?

HI Vilma

You have received some good advice re different kinds of protein shakes

What I want to advise is this - find one you like - keep trying until you do

Protein is very important - especially early out - to assist in healing. What people are saying re water is true - but you have to get your protein in.....if you can only get one then get your protein drink in as it will give you water plus sustenance.

You will likely require supplemental protein for the first 6 months until you are able to consume additional quantities of food

I still drink a protein shake every morning - I dont love it - BUT ITS THE DEAL I MADE with this surgery.

I dont love the vitamins etc - but again - its the deal we make to get healthy and thin

Best of luck to you - and seriously - keep trying one until you find something you can stomach

I too loved the optifast, and will stomach the Premier drinks when needs be because they are handy and prepackaged. But my favourite is the 100% Whey protein powder (like flour, it's that heavy) from Costco, But you can only get in at the US costco.

it's only $33 for 6lb bag, i bought 2 bags, vanilla and chocolate, that should last me about a year. I usually have one each morning during the work week. 80 servings per bag. It's freakin delicious. I put ice in it, a little banana, some SF Starbucks syrup and blend it in my bullett. It comes out thick like a frosty. I look forward to it each day.... And 27g of protein, 170 calories and very low in fat and carbs.... perfect way to start my day.

Go to GNC or another supplement store and ask to sample protein. Do that until you find one you can stomach. If you buy one at GNC keep your receipt. You can return it within a couple of weeks if you don't like it. Try fruit flavoured (Syntrax Nectar, ProtiDiet) ones instead of chocolate or vanilla. Try different temps like ice cold or warm.
Treat it like medicine and just get it down.
I used a lot of skim milk and skim milk powder in the beginning for extra protein, Make pudding and add skim milk powder. Make soup and add milk...do you see the pattern here. However you can get the protein in. What works for one person may not work for you.
I also liked the SF Carnation Instant Breakfast shakes in the beginning. They are available in Canada as ready to drink usually in the cereal aisle or near the oatmeal. In the States you can get the SF Carnation Instant breakfast in more flavours in powdered form much cheaper too.
