Question abou****er

I do an excellent job of getting in my first litre of water.  By noon, it is well out of the way.  My trouble is the second litre.  For some reason, I get distracted at work, forget to drink, and before i know it, it is late evening (after 8:00) and I am trying to cram in the extra water. I usually add a scoop of protein powder to this last litre.   Other than having to get up to pee all night  (which I actually never do- once my head hits the pillow that's it), do you see any reason why this is a problem?

the last little while (5 weeks or so), I am seeing really sloooooooow WL.  In the last couple of weeks, I have slowly been gaining.  Im up a bunch, then down a few, then back up again.  It feels like forever since I have seen a significant loss.  I am thinking that maybe i am holding onto water for whatever reason.  Do you think my nighttime water drinking could be affecting things?

Hi there

Personally, yes, I think having too much water too late at night will affect your weight loss. Especially the next morning. Yes you will pee when you get up in the morning but you are not getting rid of all that you took in.

Can you keep the water with you at work? Hoping this would help you remember.
I know, I am the same, I get busy and look over and see a full bottle of water and realize I am very thirsty LOL

Try whatever little tricks will work.

Take care

Hmmmm.  Well, my only thought is that you're adding protein to it, so in effect, you're "eating" not just drinking water.  Just a thought.

I personally don't think it is is a problem and I do it all the time. My clinic says tha****er added to protein drinks counts as water, and from what I have read about taking protein supplements, taking them before sleep is one of the best times to do it (as well as after waking and after stenuous exercise).

I have nothing to add other than....how on earth do yo manage to drink after 8pm and NOT get up to pee at least once during the night????

I have to get up EVERY night to pee....anytime between 1am and 4am....sometimes twice!!
Is my bladder remarkably small?

or is this an age thing....am I just old now?? ;)

I am pre-op, but I know that if I dont drink all my water, I dont lose weight at all. I drink 1L before 8am (at the gym), 32oz jug before lunch and another 32oz jug after lunch - before 4pm when I leave work. Then I usually have water at suppertime....anywhere between 0.5-1L. That just seems to be what my body needs to flu****self out. Maybe you actually need more water?

I dunno.....I'm just still really impressed that you can sleep all night without going pee!!! ;)

Good luck. Hope you can figure out something that helps :)

Do you have sleep apnea? That can make for nighttime-peeing. As you wake with an apneaic episode, you notice, and have to go more often.

It's usual for me to drink 32 oz of liqids after 10 pm be sleeping by 11:30 and sleep through the night.

OMG, I wish I could say the same. I have the opposite problem though where I have trouble remembering to or wanting to drink during the day. I always have my water with me but just don't drink a lot during the day. Then by the time I'm eating dinner and all evening long I drink a lot. But then am up at LEAST once or twice during the night if not 4 or 5 times.

 Hi Marny,

I was wondering if you  could get like a cup of ice at work and then you can suck on the remaining 1 liter of water ?
