Can any doctor prescribe Optifast?

I've wondered exactly the same thing. The optifast website only lists two clinics in Toronto that offer the program, but that may just be a promotional thing. If it requires a prescription, I would think that any doctor should be able to prescribe it, but I don't know for sure.
Not sure about anyone being able to perscribe it, but I do recall being told that you can only get it at the surgical hospital pharmacy.
Maybe you could find someone here who is selling off their extra and try it that way? Or ask if anyone has an extra package or two and go that route.
When I saw the dietician this week, she said that we will get to sample some drinks at the pre-surgery info class, but I don't think Optifast was part of that sampling.
Personally, I'm not too concerned about finding out. I'm going to have to take it regardless of the taste, and from what I've heard, it's all individual. Why subject myself to something I might find disgusting before I have to?

i work in a retail pharmacy and I was curious so looked to see if I could order optifast thru my supplier ( hoping to save money) but alas it is not available for us to order. So I can't speak for all retail pharmacies but for us at least even if a doctor prescribed it I could not provide it to them.

Yeah I was told that my options were that I could get it at the pharmacy at St. Joe's or that the assessment center I went to, could order it and have it sent to my door from Nestle..but I'm pretty sure its only doctors and surgeons that specialize in weight loss..if I'm not correct I'm sorry but I'm going on what I was told.
