Anyone have to have their micro dermal anchor removed for surgery? I'm hoping it can be left in and just the jewellery removed.
Thanks for your help,
Nadine

Hi Nadine!

I am a piercer at Stinger Tattoo in Newmarket, On.  Honestly they cant force you to take them out because the are implanted.  If I were you I would just put circle band aids over them... depending on where they are.

Thanks everyone for your input. I will definitely have to ask Guelph to find out for sure.

Dermals are usually made of Surgical Stainless Steel or Titanium, which is the same material as the tools used during the surgeries...  I had laparoscopic tubal ligation surgery a few years ago and although they ask you to take out the ones that you can.. if there some that you cant remove they just asked me to put tape over them.. It may depend on the hospital.. and your best bet is definitely to call your surgeons office and ask.. Good Luck and here's hoping you don't have to remove them !!!!!
