Has anyone else found themselves depressed after surgery? I keep waiting for that high and it hasn't come yet - the weight is coming off but am feeling tearful a lot. It has been about a month since the surgery- I go back to the clinic in about 3 weeks--just seems like I can't quite
put my finger on what is happening.

I remember at the WLS orientation class, they did mention that some people may have been medicating their feelings with food, that it was a way to calm themselves down.  Not that I am saying this is the issue with you :)

It could be the hormones being released as the fat is being converted into energy.  I'm not depressed by no means but I have been feeling like I'm PMSing everyday.   After I excercise I feel so much better.  Not sure if this has to do with endorphins or a flushing of the extra hormones from excercise.  Keep an eye on it and talk to the nurse or the social worker at your follow up appointment.  Take care,

I have always eaten when I'm stressed or bored.  It's hard now because now I have to force myself to eat.  Food isn't a comfort and it's definetly a hard transition.   We went to our trailer this weekend and I felt a little down about the food I'm not going to be eating this summer.  It's not that I miss the food, just the comfort that it's associated with it.  Marshmallows over the fire made be really think about it.  I felt sad about a marshmallow.  Oh well life goes on and maybe next week I'll be in a size 16 :)
Take care,
Donna

Talking it out will help.  I find wrinting things down that I am dealing with helps alot.  I hope things get better for you.

Hi there

A couple of things have happened. You have lost one of your best friends(FOOD), well the food you can't have anyway LOL
Also, the hormones are going crazy. So many changes to your body.

You may want to talk to your doctor about it. Or the nice weather alone may help(if we ever get any consistently LOL)

Take care
Have a good day

Joyce----Today is the first day of the rest of your life

It's the hormones, I wasn't depressed but PMSing quite frequently, would be happy one minute and then crazy the next.

I find it's getting better as the weight loss slows down.
