has anyone had plastics done in Ottawa and been helped by OHIP?  Any comments would be helpful.  I've contacted a couple Drs. but they don't go through OHIP.  someone informed me that in Ontario we are entitled to 2 free surgeries, has anyone else heard of this?

You are not entitled to two free surgeries.  No entitlement here.  Whomever told you that was wrong.  OHIP will cover a panni and breast reduction ONLY if you qualify and if your surgeon goes through OHIP.  Not as cut and dried as some think.   I chose to go out of country, just like our rny.

Heading to Balderson for hay this morning, closer to your neck of the woods lol.
I went to Dr. Sauceda in Monterrey, Mexico.   I paid 11,400 for a neck lift, reduction and implants, large anchor cut and a T.   That price included a 600 travel credit, my
implants, two sets of compression garments, your stay at a Hampon Inn by Hilton, daily nursing care... and so much more.
There is a canadian down there this morning having surgery and one leaving at the end of the month.

I chose him as he uses twilinght and epidural therefore he can do longer surgeries than can happen here in Canada and most of the US.  I had 13 hours of surgery.   He is also mostly a bariatric patients, so he understands our skin.   I understand that most plastic surgeons only have 4 % if their patients being baratric.     I wanted his experience.
If you'd like to talk by phone,  I can do that.

I'm going to need some work and the price in Mexico is inticing.
My fears are.... what if something goes wrong.....insurance abroad?
Do they have the same standard of health care/cleanliness etc?
Are they using cheaper equipment/implants etc and thats why the cost is lower?

OHIP will pay to stabilize you and bring you home.  That is what they told me. I bought extra insurance as anyone would traveling.
He's never had a problem like that yet.  His wife is the anaesthetist, and she takes super care of patients.   The Hospital he works out of is very modern and clean, I had no issues.  Private room.   Things are different in other countries, less suing for one lol.   And don't you wonder if you're paying 18,000 here that most goes to the hospital?  How much goes to the surgeon?   Costs are cheaper down there, labor is cheaper.   Hang around his board, Canadian just had surgery yesterday and posted last night.  You can go back to July of '10 and read my posts, I had mine at the end of the month.  I had no qualms, none in going.
If I came across the notion to go back and get more, you know where I'd go.

My hubby is very early in the process of trying to get some plastic surgery covered by OHIP. The only surgeons so far in Ottawa that may work with OHIP (that I've heard of) are Dr.Nicholas Guay and Dr. Gloria Rockwell. I have no experience with these two surgeons, but from the experience of others I do not recommend Dr.Guay (haven't heard anything about Dr.Rockwell at all). You need a referral from your family doctor (or internist, etc.) to even qualify to have anything covered by OHIP.

Good luck.
