First, congrats on quitting! I've never smoked, but my DH did when we first met. I told him it was me or the cigs. We've been together nearly 12 yrs. He made the right choice. 
Second, I believe they can tell if you're still smoking thru a blood test. When you see the internist, ask if you can have a blood test done in 3 months to see if you're eligible. The fact that you say you only smoked 1 or 2 a day may be in your favour. She may say 6 months regardless, but it can't hurt to ask.
Also, here's the St. Joe's handbook. It contains all the stuff you'll need to know. It's about 90 pages long, so if you can print it, I'd do it double sided. If not, you can read it online.
