I had my internist appointment separately also. She is really nice but talks quite fast. Checks your blood work, ect...My VitD was low so she wrote me a prescription to get it up before surgery and also recommended I take an iron pill. Pretty fast appointment. Good luck with it.

I can only speak to St. Joe's Hamilton. If you live 'close' to the hospital, (ie. not coming from out of town), then you get appts as they are available. If you're travelling a bit, then they try to bunch them up for you. I was lucky to get my Nurse and Dietician on the same day, but have been back separately for Interist, SW, and Surgeon, as well as my Surgery Class, which is next week. (Some get Surgeon and class the same day.)
The Interist goes over all your paperwork, and talks to you. Since all my bloodwork was fine, I didn't have to take any extra Vit D or anything. She gave my approval to continue and I was out the door in less than 15 min.
