From Beh/Nut to Class? Ottawa peeps

Ok, my patiently waiting attitude is waning!  How many weeks after you were told you were good to go on by the Beh/Nut did it take to get the call for the Education Class & surgeon appointment.  It has been 5 weeks for me.  I did call last week and Lana said she hadn't reviewed the May files yet???

Good thing I didn't go by the nurse's timeline, she told me I should be having surgery within 3 months....that was April

Thanks,

Tracey

I seen the NUT/Beh May 4th, still haven't heard anything from them about WLS class.  I called the beginning of June because they said in May I would be in for my class in about 4 week.  They told me the beginning of June that I should hear from someone within the month....  Still no word!

Frustration levels are running really high nowadays, as I am sure yours are too!!

It's very frustrating, more from the waiting than anything.  I seriously wish Ottawa would do the Humber thing and give the list of appointments at first.  It would reduce the calls, give people an opportunity to plan and decrease stress.

Going for a walk in hopes the phone will ring.

Ottawa has got to do something..  If the waiting isn't hard enough, it's watching all the people that started this process after you did have their surgerys or get dates while you are still waiting. Although happy for those that seem to be getting through this process..  It does nothing for the mental states of those of us that are left waiting and watching everyone pass them by.

I was looking at your timeline and I had my info session one month later and look how far behind comparitavely I am to you!  I think Dr. Yelle's broken arm set things back a bit, and now summer holidays....

If patience isn't a strong suit before we start it should be by the end.

Thanks,

Tracey

I don't understand how they do it. But by the time I got to waiting for the surgery class call I gave in and just tried to stop thinking about it. I was just happy it was moving along and I was not lost.

My timelines are below I think it was almost 3 months for me but I had to hae a scope done inbetween.

Hope you get your call soon.

Kelly

Thanks Kelly,

I don't understand their system either, every appointment I have had the person has said I am an excellent candidate and it won't take long......no other tests required, no medical issues other than pinched nerve in back and leg (my doc says surgery will aleviate these significantly).

I have spent time trying to do other things and I really think they should stop telling people it won't take long.  When the APN said 3 months I questioned her timeline and she was sure it would be fast...so by her number I should be in surgery this month....I left that appointment thinking that the right and left hands need to talk to each other a bit more often!

I have mentioned before that  my daughter "Mamaty" switched to Humber (she lives a bit closer) in January/Feb by April she was done all of the appointments and goes for Patts at the end of this month.  HRRH emailed her the packages and a list of appointments.  After she completed the Beh/Nut appointment she was told to call the next day for the surgeon appointment, internist, patts(all on one day) and surgery date given to her for August 15th.  Very easy system, she didn't have to sit and wonder when the next call would come and has had time to read, learn, schedule work time off etc.

When I called to see if I could transfer they said no...then I kept reading others were going.  Now I am worried that if I complain or change it will take longer than if I just wait!  Ottawa is easier for me personally to get to and I am more comfortable driving there, but it makes one wonder

Thanks Ann,

If I average out the numbers I should get into a class this month, see the surgeon late August and have surgery by October....nearly 2 years from the day i got the letter saying I couldn't go to the US.

Thanks again for replying, I think I'll stop the pity party and get on with my life
