Feeling a bit paranoid...
Having some pain in my lower back on the left side, like in my "flanks". Feels like the pain you get with a UTI or Kidney infection, but don't have any of the other usual symptoms. No fever or anything else like that. Should I be worried at all? Can't find anything on the internet to do with this pain and RNY other than gall bladder issues, but I thought that was more like a pain that radiated towards your back. Anyone have any reason why I should be worried? I am going to the walk in tomorrow to get tested for a UTI. Do you think I should call my clinic. I know what they will say "Please see your family doctor", (Who is BTW on vacation I believe).
I get a little jumpy about unusual pains. My hubby tells me I am paranoid, but my mantra is usually "Better safe than sorry).

Better safe than sorry is an excellent philosophy. Sounds like a UTI, but best to have a couple tests done. They say cranberry juice helps, but not sure how that would affect you and dumping, plus I think you need to have a fair amount to make a difference. See a doc at the walk in. Hopefully it will be a 'simple' fix. Hope you feel better soon. Try to get some rest.

Get it checked out Marny. The walk-in clinic at Southdown and Truscott is very good.

Well, I went and the urine test came back negative for everything. I am still having pain though. I thought when I woke up in the morning that it was gone, but less than half hour later, it was back. Maybe I just twisted wrong or something? It hurts just in general, but especially when I inhale deelply or sniff or cough. Hmmmmm. I am going camping for 2 weeks in the (honest to goodness) middle of nowhere, so I hope it clear up by Saturday as I don't want to travel 9 hours away and be worried about this whole thing.
Glad you got it checked out. You may have just pulled something but I share your concern of being faaaaarrrr away - maybe call your centre just to ask?

UTIs can present atypically - I should know, I let one turn into a nasty kidney infection a couple of years ago because I wasn't having the typical symptoms (don't let a lack of a 'burning' sensating while urinating fool you). If you're not feeling 'right', definitely check it out, it's such a simple test. If you're still having the pain after a round of antibiotics, you can request an ultrasound to have your internals checked out.
