Fingernails!?!
It has nothing to do with surgery since I'm still pre-op but wondering if it would make sense that the protein is doing this. I've been taking a Protein Shake/day, the ones from Cotsco - Premier Nutrition - and I think since then that the white tip of my fingernails splits - like if I put tip to tip, I can take a layer from the top of the fingernail. Weird!
Suggestions?

Sorry, never heard of that Nathalie. Vitamin deficiencies and lack of protein can lead to nail issues, but I've never read anything specifically to do with addiing protein to your diet.

Maybe get some blood work done as a "pre-op baseline" so you can monitor things as you move along.

i loaded up on vitamins pre surgery and my nails were beautiful. Afterwards when i wasn't absorbing the 3-6-9 is when they became thin, cracking, terrible. only now are they getting better, after i found an omega 3 that's not in capsule form.
the protein shake is just conincidence.
but i did find that i wasn't as tired post op like most becaue of all the vitamins etc that i'd been taking 3 months prior to surgery.

I've had this problem for years. It can be caused by deficiencies in your diet, another illness, or you could just be prone to it. Since it's new for you, it's probably a diet thing. There isn't a whole lot you can do about other than keep your nails short. Polishes and whatnot only treat the surface layer so they aren't of much help.
