Alright, so I have a question, I was wondering during and right after surgery if any one knew the kind of pain medication that they give you. I'm one of those people who likes to know every detail. I asked that anesthesiologist and he said "Oh, don't worry about" and i was so taken aback i was like "O.K no problem :D" but then when i left I was thinking... thats a completely legitimate question.  Really, I just wanted to know because the surgery is so soon... and I do have alot of anxiety about it.. so I just wanted to know that If I am in pain...I'm not really going to be caring.... if it was up to me I would ask them to give me a whole bunch of happy drugs until everything is managable. lol

theI was at HRRH and also had the morphine drip but once i was out of recovery I had no more meds, didn't need them.  Hubby laughed cause my nurse kept asking if I wanted pain meds and I was refusing them.

In hospital I was given morphine. The internist gave me a script for Tylenol 3 for home pain management but I never filled it.

I was given percoset in the hospital, that I crushed up and drank in a tiny medicine cup. (ew!) But they certainly worked well on the pain.  Not sure what I was given during/immediately after surgery in recovery.

I was given hydromorphone (I think that was what it was called) because of family history of morphine allergy in the pain pump I was hooked up to, but honestly only used it a few times.  The pain is very manageable.  On the second day once I started not using the pump they started giving me regular tylenol, and that is what I'm taking now a couple of times a day.  But that is for headaches.  I'm really not having any pain.  Feeling really full and there is gas pressure, but that's it!

In Ottawa they gave me dilaudid and tylenol, both while in hospital and a script to take home after surgery.

I don't remember what I got in the hospital, but at home I had liquid dilaudid and they gave me a prescription for 650ml liquid Tylenol, but the only liquid they had was only 125ml and I didn't want to have to deal with the volume to get the proper dose, so I got 650ml acetominophen suppositories. I was off all pain meds within 4 days of being home.
