2.5 week post op question/help on Poop
Susanne Call the clinic.
Just ask to speak to one of the nurses.
I have called a few times since surgery.
I called for the same reason. They recommended a stool softener. I am now nearly 8 weeks post op and 7 days is common.
When I asked Dr.Reed he said water is a great laxitive drink all that you can.
Good Luck.

Hi, I called the nurse at Guelph last week as I was going fine until I moved to full fluids and then things stopped. She said it was normal not to go for 4-5 days when changing from clear to full, but if it lasted longer to take colace (not sure of the spelling but that is how it sounded). It is a stool softener and she said not to take anything stronger. She asked if I was passing gas and she said that was a good sign.
She said to call anytime, so don't hesitate to call them.
Good luck
Jackie

I'm becoming and expert on this issue ...lol i |Just got off the phone as i was talking to st Joe's nurse ( Hamilton ) Now i have had IBS for many years been constipated in the worst way i was very worried after i had WLS and was hoping it would just go away.. well it hasn't just my luck. since i take my vit, iron, calcium and my perc.. all very binding.
So any ways what i am now told is to increase my meds and unscribed meds so this is what i have to take ...
1 co-lace (red pill ) 2x a day so 1 morning, 1 night.
2 senicote 2 x a day so 2 in morning and 2 night.
2 pouches of benefibre increase to 3 a day in my bottled water
lactolose 15 ml morning and 30 ml at night
1/2 cup of unsweetened prune juice daily plus a decaf tea/coffee
WoW now if all this don't work for me I am in so much trouble,, i also spoke with the surgeon and they are now doing a scope from both ends on me to see if there's any type of blockage or to at least rule it out Sept 30th and yes i am so scared to have that done Will from the bottom area, but i have to do what needs to be done if i want to get this help
So if i were you get in touch with ur team as you should be going to the bathroom at least by every 3 days tell them what you are feeling and you should also not be straining to go as it can hurt ur insides.
gd luck and all the best on ur journey,
Joy
